🌳 A major step forward for Glanmire – and something I am delighted to see progressing.
As the local Glanmire councillor, I have consistently pushed for our rapidly growing community to have the parks, recreational facilities and public spaces that local families deserve.
I’m therefore absolutely delighted that Cork City Council has now formally published the Part 8 proposals for the development of Glanmire Park at John O’Callaghan Park.
This is a really exciting opportunity for Glanmire.
The proposals include:
• A new children’s playground
• A Multi-Use Games Area
• A learn-to-cycle track
• A dedicated dog park
• Community gathering spaces
• New visitor parking
• Riverside access and viewing areas
• Improved walking and cycling connections
• Biodiversity-rich landscaping
For me, this is about much more than individual facilities. Glanmire has expanded enormously over recent years and I have been very clear that investment in housing must be matched by investment in the amenities and infrastructure that make somewhere a great place to live.
The acquisition of the former Riverstown FC lands, the development of the Greenway and now these proposals give us a real opportunity to create a much larger and better public amenity at the heart of our community.
I will be strongly supporting these plans and, importantly, I want the people of Glanmire to have their say on how the park develops.
The public consultation is now open at **consult.corkcity.ie**, with submissions accepted until **4pm on Friday, 2 October**.
This is exactly the kind of investment I want to see continuing in Glanmire, and I look forward to working to bring these plans through to delivery.
