Productive meeting yesterday with the Mayor of Galway City, Cllr Helen Ogbu, alongside Linda Sice Brogan, CEO of Galway City Partnership, and our Tús Supervisors, Seán Lynch and Tina Waldron.

Our discussions centred on a shared vision of developing and delivering impactful community projects across Galway City. By combining local government support, strategic community resources, and valuable work placement opportunities through the Tús Programme, we aim to strengthen local communities and provide targeted social support where it is needed most.

Today, the BRIDGE Project was delighted to welcome Irish HomeCare for an information session on how to become a carer in Ireland. Participants had the opportunity to learn about working in the care sector, the qualifications and training required, and the different employment opportunities available.

A big thank you to Irish HomeCare for delivering such an informative and engaging session, and to everyone who attended!

🌍 What kind of future do you want for Westside and Shantalla?

Galway City Partnership and TASC are working on an exciting new community project called The People’s Transition — and we want to hear from you.
The project is focused on the Westside, Shantalla and Newcastle area and is all about bringing people together to talk about what matters most to their community — and how we can build a better, fairer, and more sustainable future together.

The first step is listening — and we’re hosting two free, informal community events in October where everyone is welcome, no experience needed, just your voice and your ideas. ☕

📅 Wednesday 14th October, 6:30–8pm — Westside Resource Centre
📅 Thursday 15th October, 10:30am–12pm — Shantalla Community Centre

Tea, coffee & biscuits provided. All welcome!

Clients from the BRIDGE Project recently attended the ‘Buta’s Journey Children’s Art Workshop’ at Galway City Museum🎨 The workshop gave young children and their grown-ups the opportunity to enjoy a creative morning of printmaking and art, while also learning about the fascinating journey of the Buta pattern across different cultures. It was a lovely opportunity for families to take part in a fun, educational and intercultural activity together, encouraging creativity, learning and connection within the community!

We are delighted to support this significant Beach Access initiative in collaboration with Galway City Council, Galway Beach Access Group and the Irish Wheelchair association all working together to make Galway City beaches more accessible and inclusive. 💙

This pilot project started with Ballyloughane and Silverstrand beaches. To help improve access to the shoreline for wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties, our Tus team managed the daily rollout of the mats.

The project ran over the summer and we hope to support it again next summer! 🌊♿️
