The Great Debate: An Election Night by Red Bird Youth Collective.

Despite the last minute change of venue, there was a full house at Nuns Island Theatre for this live satirical political debate where three fictional parties competed for power and votes! Congratulations to all involved in bringing this wonderful performance to life for Culture Night.

25th Anniversary Concert at the Crane Bar on Culture Night. 🎶🎻

An incredible evening of Irish traditional music celebrating 25 years of music at the Crane Bar, featuring masters of the tradition: Mary Bergin, Tony Linnane, Eammon O'Riordan and Mick Conneely with support from Johnny "Ringo" McDonagh, Connor Keane and Mick Crehan.

'As Above, So Below' at Engage Art Studios.

Engage members Roisín Doherty and Sara K Dunn led a printmaking workshop for Culture Night inviting participants to make their own prints and cards using lino carved stamped, which Roisín and Sara created in response to their duo exhibition 'As Above, So Below'.

Artspace Studios 40th Anniversary: Stories on Screen 🎬

Artspace Galway celebrated four decades of artist-led practice, community and collaboration with a special screening event for Culture Night. Bringing together past and present through film, audiences were offered an insight into the practices of those who shape this space. The programme included a screening of Artspace | Our Space (2011) by Michael Fortune, and Artspace at 40 (2026) by Hugh Murphy and Daniel Kapelianis.

Galway's creative talent took centre stage on Monday evening as poets, musicians, dancers, animators, and game developers from Galway, Belfast, Dublin, and Sligo performed for delegates from 15 UNESCO Creative Cities of Film at the flagship event of the 2026 UNESCO Cities of Film Subnetwork Meeting.

Hosted by Ardán, and echoing to the declaration of Deputy Mayor Josie Forde that “Creative cities are built by people”, the event - Talent at the Centre: Building Inclusive, International and Sustainable Cities of Film - was a demonstration to international guests as to why Galway City and County has continually attracted film-makers and TV companies.
