FASD Ireland FASD Ireland supports anyone with a connection to FASD, in a supportive environment. FASD Ireland will commit to remaining impartial of agencies.

FASD Ireland aims to be the 'go to' place for advice and support for anyone living with FASD across Ireland. It is our intention to provide a safe environment online for anyone to visit, to ask and answer questions, to find support and offer help to others. FASD Ireland actively encourages people to engage using Facebook and Twitter as a method of raising awareness. The site will remain totally confidential and will not share personal stories or information without written permission. FASD Ireland would urge everyone living with FASD to make contact with their local TD and ask them to raise the lack of recognition and support at every opportunity in Dáil Éireann. It is the long term of FASD Ireland to gain central Government funding so that a National Hub can be established to provide support on a solid footing for everyone with FASD who needs support, when they need support.

An FASD diagnosis can bring relief, questions and strong emotions for families. Explaining it with care means using clear, respectful language about this lifelong neurodevelopmental disability, without blame or judgement, while recognising the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure. This guide explores how to talk about diagnosis, build on strengths and identify the right supports following appropriate assessment, so no one feels alone or defined by their challenges.

Join us for our next Parent/Carer Peer Group on 18th November 2026 from 7pm until 9pm.

We will be joined by the wonderful Guest Speaker - Barb Clark who will be discussing 'Practical day-to-day strategies for supporting Children and Teenagers with FASD' .

Barb Clark, founder of FASD Mosaic, is an internationally recognised speaker, coach, and trainer known for translating brain science into practical, real-world strategies. Grounded in a connected, relational approach, she helps caregivers and professionals better understand behaviour through a brain-based lens and build meaningful, supportive relationships with individuals who have complex neurodevelopmental needs.

She specialises in addressing some of the most challenging behaviours, including raging, lying, and stealing, by helping others understand the underlying brain science driving them. As an adult living with a Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and a parent of five adult children, including one with FASD, Barb brings honesty, humour, and hope to conversations about behavior and connection.

Barb is the author of Raising Kids and Teens with FASD: Advice and Strategies to Help Your Family Thrive. Her second book, The A to Z of FASD, will be published in 2027.

This is not to be missed!

FASD is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disability linked to prenatal alcohol exposure, but families should never face its challenges with judgement or isolation. Our article explains what families need to know about recognition, appropriate assessment and practical support across home, education and services. It also highlights the importance of building on each person’s strengths, with the right scaffolding in place to support communication, learning and everyday life.
