A huge well done to everyone that took part and helped organise what was a very successful and enjoyable training exercise ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The scenario involved a boat fire with uncountable casualties, with casualties on board the vessel and in the water.

Members of Dungarvan Fire service were deployed to deal with the fire on board the vessel , with firefighters transported out to the boat by lifeboat. Fire Service personnel also assisted with casualty care as part of the overall rescue operation.

Helvic head lifeboat and Youghal lifeboat working together to locate, and extricate and rescue casualties from the water, while our swift water Rescue technicians entered the water and carried out a true rescue.

The land based coast guard units from Bonmahon , Ardmore, and Youghal assisted with casualty care and recovery, working along with all the others teams during the exercise.

We were also delighted to have Rescue 117 carry out a flyby During the exercise ๐Ÿš

There was plenty going on,with all teams working in a realistic challenging water rescue scenario . It was fantastic to see such a great crowd down at the harbour watching the exercise. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Joint exercises like this are invaluable for testing our skills and equipment, communications and , most importantly, our ability to work together when faced with a real emergency ๐Ÿšจ ๐Ÿš’

Special thanks to Owen McGarry for helping out, and to Micheal Ryan for the use of his boat โ›ด๏ธNathan Burke Photography & Design

Joint Exercise ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

This Friday the 28th of August, we will be taking part in a joint exercise with Helvick head RNLI, and coast Guard units from Bonmahon , Ardmore, and Youghal in Dungarvan Harbour.

The exercise will commence at 6.15pm, and members of the public may notice increased emergency service activity both on and off the water and around the harbour. This is only an exercise so donโ€™t be alarmed ๐Ÿšจ

We are also hopeful of a flyover visit from Rescue 117 ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Yesterday evening during our weekly drill night, our crew took part in a swift water rescue exercise scenario involving a casualty who was lying by the waters edge.

Using our inflatable rescue matts , which measure 5 meters by 1.5 meters, the crew safely reached, assessed, and recovered the casualty from challenging ground conditions. The exercise highlighted excellent teamwork, communication, and rescue skills throughout.

Training exercises like this help ensure we are ready to respond effectively when called upon in real-life emergency situations.๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’

A huge congratulations to all the county/ city retained Firefighters who successfully completed their compartment Fire Behaviour training course including our very own Andy Miller and Brian Donovan.๐Ÿš’

The course was held in Hacketown Fire service training centre, over the duration of the five day course, participants explored the dynamics of fire development within enclosed environments, gaining a deeper understanding of how fires behave, grow, and transition through critical stages such as flashover and backdraft๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

Through a combination of classroom learning and practical, hands on exercises, each participant developed essential skills in reading fire conditions, risk assessment, and safe effective firefighting techniques.๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Huge congratulations to the Waterford Fire Service Extrication team, who came away from Hackettown yesterday with an incredible second place in the National Extrication Finals๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

This is a massive achievement for a team who only got together back in February and was competing in their first competition.๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป๐Ÿš’

The two competition scenarios were 25 minutes long, and after the first run the team took on board the positive feedback from the assessors, regrouped and came back after lunch determined to improve. They absolutely delivered ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปcompleting their second scenario with both casualties safely extricated under 18 minutes.

The dedication, teamwork, and hard work shown by everyone involved truly paid off๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

A sincere thank you to Nathan Burke Photography & Design for sponsoring and supporting the team throughout.
