Chronicles

In June 1947 C.S. Lewis was at the height of his academic career when he finds himself in Drogheda, Co. Louth, at his brother Warnie’s deathbed

As C.S discovers more of Ireland, of its people and his memories of a life caught up in grief, responsibility and unwavering loyalty. Based on true events, this show is an original take on the origin story of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Written by Nicola Cassidy, an award-winning writer from Co. Louth, this play is a special original commission by An Táin Arts Centre.

The Pink Slice

As part of Louth on Screen
An Táin Arts Centre Screen 1
Saturday, 4.10 pm
Tickets: https://filmfreeway.com/LouthInternationalFilmFestival/tickets

In Dundalk, few pastries inspire quite as much affection as the Pink Slice.

Made with layers of soft pastry, jam and cream, finished with its unmistakable pink icing, the Pink Slice has become closely associated with The Home Bakery and with memories of Dundalk life. For locals and those who have moved away, it is more than a sweet treat, it is a taste of home.

This short film explores the story behind Dundalk’s much loved Pink Slice, the bakery that made it famous locally, and the memories and sense of place wrapped up in one very distinctive pastry.

A little pastry. A lot of Dundalk.
