dlr Grant Scheme 2026 – Recipients

Meet the Aoife Ó Ceallacháin who was awarded the Professional Development Arts Grant 2026 to support a period of focused writing time. This took place during March and April 2026.

Aoife did an 11-night residency at Inishowen Artists’ Retreat, Donegal. During this time, Aoife developed new writing exploring institutionalisation, intergenerational trauma and fibromyalgia.
“The residency gave me dedicated time and space to focus on my writing and explore at a pace that accommodated chronic pain and fatigue.”
“The professional development grant was an investment in me as a writer. It gave me uninterrupted time to write, think, read and develop. This grant gave me the chance to reconnect with my creative work and put myself first.”

The dlr Grant Scheme 2027 will be open for applications in mid-September to
mid-October 2026. Apply later this year at: https://dlrcoco.submit.com

Join us for our next Climate Café, facilitated by artist Elida Maiques. Our guest speaker will be writer, artist and natural ink-maker Cathy Dillon. She is the author of Mordant: A Year in Ink (2026), an illustrated memoir/recipe book that chronicles a year in her life as a plant-ink-and-paint-maker.
A former journalist with the Irish Times, her writing and/or artworks have also appeared in, among others, the Business Post; The Sunday Times; Hot Press magazine; dlr LexIcon Gallery; Signal Arts Centre, Bray; Mill Theatre, Dundrum; and Dunamaise Arts Centre, Port Laois.
The focus of the Café will be on how to make inks and paints from plants, their unique qualities and how they can form the basis of a more environmentally friendly art practice. There will be samples of plants, inks and pigments to look at and some inks and paints to try. This is a relaxed session where a talk is followed by a lively Q&A. Participants are encouraged to draw, take notes or just sit back and have a cuppa while listening.

Set against the glittering sea and the colours of a summer dusk, LUNA by Sal Stapleton transformed the Baths into an immersive world of electronic textures, choral voices and strings. Inspired by the phases of the moon, the performance took the audience on an elemental journey through darkness, illumination and renewal.

Thank you to performers Sebastian, Catriona, Katie and Graham on strings, vocal ensemble Ardú and Sal Stapleton .

What happens when a vanished waterslide becomes a live electronic performance?

This new work from Jenny’s Revenge, Rainbow Rapids and The 100,000 BOLTS draws on the social history of Dún Laoghaire's lost gathering places, bringing together music and masked performance in a playful and joyful gathering on the coastline.

Thank you to performers Cian Murphy , Jenny O’Malley , Padraig Ryan and Alex Lynch.
