Three years on from the start of the genocide, we are here still, standing, supporting and campaigning for the Palestinians. It is not just the people of Palestine. We are standing for, but humanity itself. We need to keep calling out Israel further acts against the Palestinian people and block them from normalising genocide on all fronts whether it’s sport, art or everyday life, no matter what country across the world we need to keep pressure on Israel. We were in attendance last night for the stop the game campaign in liberty hall.

Some brilliant views put forward on why we as a nation we should not entertain the sports washing of a genocide.

We need to stop the game.
It has been done in the past.
We have boycotted the Eurovision Song Contest.
What’s stopping our government or the FAI from calling a halt to the games that allow our players play against members of the Israeli Defence Forces, a force killing thousands of innocent civilians and who are implementing a genocide.

Labour, cultural welcomes, the fact that we are now not attending Eurovision next year, that we see Irish artists, defending the upholding of human rights by siding with a man who was kicked from a tour for saying free Palestine. Still, see the FAI pandering and sports, washing a genocidal regime Israel. We are calling for you to keep calling for the game to be stopped on the 27th of September between Ireland and Israel. Also, I have correspondence from the minister of Justice that the letter regarding the screening of Israeli defence force members entering Ireland is receiving attention, we will keep pressing the issue. Want to let us brought to the international security and human rights and international law is upheld. Labour Party

A clear message to Trump today in Dublin, that he is not welcome in Ireland. He is supporting a genocide. He is causing upheaval and suffering across the globe and has no respect for human rights. The people of Ireland have spoken Labour Party

Eventful few weeks we have had. With the banning of sale of Israeli war bonds in the EU.
A huge gathering for the stop the game campaign.
Multiple countries banning trade in goods with Israeli settlements.
And now we have the arrival of a fascist on our shore who is a genocidal enabler and the cause of so much destruction and misery across the world.

We in Labour were proud to stand with the “Stop The Game” campaign today in Dublin. We can’t have our government normalising a genocide by entertaining sports with a country committing such atrocities while the world watches on.

Today

I have written to minister Jim O’Callaghan again, asking for a response to a letter he received in May regarding the screening of Israeli defence force members entering our country.

I received acknowledgement of the letter in May, but no response to its content sense.

I have highlighted the fact that the government has rejected visas for Palestinian students who are victims of a genocidal regime who wanted to enter the country to study, while their homes, families and livelihoods are being torn apart in Palestine, it’s totally unacceptable that our government is allowing Israeli Defence Force members into our country, without visas or screening and blocking victims of a genocide from studying here.

I’m calling on you once again to please send a letter to minister Jim O’Callaghan if you can calling on him to implement screening protocols on is ready defence force members going forward.

Labour, intercultural comparison of Palestinian students not allowed into Ireland, compared to IDF members, serving in a genocidal army, who are allowed to walk freely on our streets.

Vice Chair of Labour Intercultural and Wexford Equality Officer Damien Corish calls for the far right to be held accountable for their actions both here and abroad.

Corish says that,

"With the Dáil currently not in action, it is important for us not to lose sight of the actions of the far right both here and abroad, with Israel creating new laws in February, allowing for the expansion into the West Bank, when already 700,000 Israeli settlers lived there.

It is now allowing Israeli private citizens to buy land in Palestinian territory, amounting to a de facto annexation of their land and it is now being classed as an emergency by an UN envoy or in the words of minister Bezalel Smotrich who is banned from Ireland along with Ben Gvir.

"The Israeli Government was continuing the revolution in settlement policy and control over all parts of our country"

These illegal settlements are backed by the Israeli Defence Forces and the Israeli Government, where people are being forced from their homes and their lands are being confiscated under threats and violence.

We in Labour Intercultural reiterate that any Israeli Defence Force members entering our country need to be screened for war crimes and that the banning of a couple of jeering far right ministers doesn't cut it.

We have seen cases taken in Belgium and Brazil, and it is our duty to uphold international law.

While here in Ireland the far right have recently held racist protests in the west and north of the country, while pretending to care for the rights of working people, by drawing attention away from the real culprits of society's conditions, cost of living etc... This is being fuelled by pro-Israeli agitators from the UK.

While it is great to see people protest against Ireland versus Israel in sports and the selling of Israeli war bonds, we need to focus on our own national security issues in terms of the far right and the threat that this genocidal regime poses to the international community and our own. We will be working on a framework to bring to the Dail regarding the screening of IDF members entering the country before its first sitting and making sure we get a response from the minister.
