What started as a community coming together for breakfast and to watch the All Blacks v Ireland Test Match in July has become something truly special!

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who joined us at Suttonians RFC, enough funds were raised to purchase an adaptive tricycle for St Michael’s House Special School, Baldoyle. Recently, Ambassador Ange had the privilege of seeing it alongside Kevin from Variety Ireland. It was a moving reminder of the incredible difference that can be made when a community comes together.

This one trike will help provide opportunities for inclusion, independence, exercise and fun, bringing joy to students and the wider school community for years to come.
A heartfelt thank you to Variety Ireland, Suttonians RFC, and everyone who helped make this happen. 🚲✨🍀

Ambassador Ange and Admin Manager Erin were delighted to attend the AsIAm Conference last week, which provides a platform for autistic voices, lived experience, research and policy discussions from across Ireland, Europe and beyond.

A particular highlight was hearing from New Zealander Matt Frost, whose thought-provoking keynote speech on his lived experience, advocacy and leadership inspired meaningful discussion throughout the conference. Matt, a Principal Advisor at the Ministry of Disabled People, Whaikaha, was invited to speak in a personal capacity while visiting Ireland, with the full agreement of Whaikaha.

Congratulations to AsIAm on an excellent conference that created a valuable forum for connection, learning and dialogue among participants from across Europe and beyond.

What does success in Ireland look like for New Zealand businesses?

That was the central question explored at the New Zealand Embassy and New Zealand Business Network Ireland event, which focused on the practical realities of growing a business in Ireland, sharing firsthand insights on how New Zealanders and New Zealand companies can succeed in a competitive and dynamic market.

Many thanks to our expert panel: Carlo Salizzo, Ciara McWilliams and John Murray.

And special thanks to moderator Michelle Thompson, who guided a lively discussion packed with practical advice, lessons learned and real-world experiences.

The event formed part of the Trans-Tasman Business Circle delegation's programme during its visit to Ireland, led by Steve Jurkovich, CEO of Kiwibank, to support conversations that strengthen business connections across our region.

This week (14-20 September) is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori!

Māori became an official language of New Zealand in 1987and it’s a taonga (treasure) that our government works to protect.

Every conversation helps strengthen and sustain te reo for future generations.

Kia kaha te reo Māori!

The Embassy was invited to attend the Dublin Guardians v Belfast Wolves in the inaugural season of the European T20 premier League (ETPL) in Malahide last week.

The ETPL brings together international cricket stars, Europe's emerging talent and a premium fan experience across some of Europe's most exciting cities, creating a platform designed not only to showcase the game, but to accelerate its growth across the continent. There are 6 teams across 4 countries – Amsterdam Flames, Belfast Wolves, Edinburgh Castle Rockers, Dublin Guardians, Rotterdam Dockers and Glasgow Cosmic. There are a number of Kiwis involved in the ETPL both playing and in team management.

Daryl took one for the team by spending an afternoon out at cricket representing the Embassy last Wednesday in Malahide. By all accounts he had a great day making some purposeful connections.
