Headway Cork was awarded a Cork City Council Arts Office Artist and Community Award for 2026. Over six months, 12 of us worked with artist and printmaker Dominic Fee on a community-based project called "Impressions of Memory," in collaboration with Cork Public Museum, Cork Printmakers, and Ballyphehane Community Centre.

Along the way we learned to make handmade paper, played with dyeing paper pulp, and created freehand and stencilled designs and imagery. We embedded collected items into paper and made paper casts of objects that held personal meaning.

We explored the museum for ideas and inspiration — special thanks to Education Officer Jessica, who gave us the use of the atrium every month. We were also introduced to the Cork Printmakers Studio, where we experimented with stone lithography and combined personal imagery for screen printing.

We've learned so much, made new friends, built confidence, and created uniquely beautiful work. It's bittersweet to be finishing up, but we're looking forward to an exhibition of our work hosted by Cork Public Museum (details to follow), and to hanging our pieces in our new Headway home in Carrigrohane for all to see.

Huge thanks to our sponsors and everyone involved.

🌿 Scent & Memory Workshop at The Hunt Museum
Tuesday, 15 September
2:00pm – 3:30pm
The Hunt Museum – Captains’ Room

Scent has a unique ability to take us straight back to a special moment, person or place. During this interactive workshop, participants will explore a range of different smells, unlocking memories and sparking stories and connections along the way.

The workshop will be led by Tasha Marks of AVM Curiosities and is part of the Hunt Museum’s “Making Scents of the Collection” project, supported by the Heritage Council’s Community Heritage Grant Scheme.

A wonderful opportunity to explore memories, share stories and connect with others through the power of scent.

Places are limited, so if you’re interested in attending, please get in touch with the Hunt Museum for further information.
