European Commission Representation in Ireland We are the local office of the European Commission 🇪🇺 based in Dublin 🇮🇪

Our team has the following functions:

- Providing information on European affairs both to the media and to the general public. The Press Office keeps national and local media up to date with developments in Brussels and is an important contact point for journalists.

- Providing the general public with free access to information about the Commission and the European Union in our public information centre at 12-14 Lower Mount Street, Dublin 2, through publications, multimedia facilities and educational visits. Information officers are on hand to deal with specific queries.

- Distributing a weekly electronic newsletter with news of recent developments at EU level and an agenda of upcoming events.

- Supporting a countrywide network of EU information providers in local libraries, business information centres and universities.

- Gathering information and keeping the Commission in Brussels informed of various political, social and economic developments in Ireland. As part of our expanding listening function, the Representation will conduct public consultations on various ideas that the Commission is developing. We want to ensure that citizens’ voices are heard in the corridors of power in Brussels.

How are Irish workplaces navigating the AI transition? 🤖🇮🇪

New Eurobarometer data reveals a picture of how SMEs and mid-caps in Ireland approach artificial intelligence and algorithmic management in the workplace.

While 13% of Irish businesses plan to adopt AI tools in the next two years (ahead of the EU average), questions around high investment costs and workforce trust remain.

Today, these themes are under discussion in Dublin as Taoiseach Micheál Martin, European Commissioners Henna Virkkunen, Michael McGrath, and Ekaterina Zaharieva gather for the International AI Summit.

Did you run in solidarity yesterday? 🏃‍♂️💙

In Dublin, we joined people in more than 100 countries for the Global Solidarity Run - running, walking and wheeling in support of people who have been forcibly displaced or are living in extreme poverty.

There was plenty of movement, but also coffee, chats and that sense of belonging that the Sanctuary Runners Ireland is all about ☕️

The European Commission was proud to support the event, with Commissioners Glenn Micallef | European Commissioner and Hadja Lahbib also joining us in the weeks leading up to it. 🇪🇺💙

You’re invited! 🏃‍♀️🇪🇺

Commissioner Hadja Lahbib joined the Sanctuary Runners for a walk around St Stephen’s Green today ahead of Sunday’s Global Solidarity Run 🍂💙

You definitely don’t need to be a good runner - you can walk, run or wheel. Come for the chats, the coffee ☕️ and most importantly, to show up in solidarity.

In Dublin? Join us here on Sunday. Elsewhere? Take part wherever you are!

We're half way through the Ireland's EU Presidency 🇮🇪🇪🇺

While the Presidency will pass to another country, the idea of Europe and European cooperation with its 27 states and common policies will continue growing in a beautiful EU garden in Cork.

One month ago, we have officially re-opened "Shared Roots, Common Shade" EU Garden in Cork's Marina Park.

06/10/2026

On 11 October, people around the world will come together for the Global Solidarity Run 💙

Commissioner Glenn Micallef is backing Sanctuary Runners as communities show their support for people who have been forcibly displaced or are living in extreme poverty.

Walk, run or wheel - wear blue and take part wherever you are! 🏃‍♀️💙

For generations, the Boyle family has farmed Bencroy Mountain in Co. Leitrim.

Now Matthew, his father Andrew, and Fred 🐕, are among around 40 local farmers and land managers helping bring its blanket bog back to health through WaterLANDS, an EU-funded project restoring wetlands across Europe.

More than €2 million in EU funding is supporting WaterLANDS’ work in Ireland, combining local knowledge with scientific expertise to restore these important landscapes for generations to come. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
