Artist Talk: Victoria Lucas Glenveagh National Park Visitor Centre, Donegal, Ireland

Friday 2nd October 2026, 3pm

An artist's talk with Sheffield-based artist Victoria Lucas, marking the close of her three-week art residency with the Derek Hill Foundation, in partnership with

The Glebe House and Gallery Glenveagh National Park and Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny

Lucas's site-responsive practice moves across sculpture, photography, moving image and installation, in a way that translates direct physical encounters with landscape.

In this talk, Lucas will introduce her wider practice and key works before turning to 'Becoming-with Glenveagh the research developed during her art residency.

Drawing on field walks, 3D scans and archival research, she will share works-in-progress developed in direct response to the landscapes of Glenveagh, and reflect on what it means to become entangled with a place.

The Derek Hill Foundation
Artist's Residency 2027

The Derek Hill Foundation with the Glebe Gallery, Glenveagh, National Park (National Parks and Wildlife Service) and Regional Cultural Centre are collaborating on an exciting opportunity for two visual artists to spend three weeks immersed in the remote landscapes of Donegal in the spring or autumn 2027

Individual artists from a wide range of visual art disciplines are invited to explore all aspects of Glenveagh, including the natural ecology, heritage, culture and local communities. This may touch on but is not limited to: Glenveagh, as a National Park, natural landscape restoration; Derek Hill, his practice and legacy, the Glebe House and its collections, the people, social history or working resources of the area; Tory Island.

Accommodation is provided in a comfortable cottage and a grant of £2000 is available to cover all expenses.

There is no dedicated studio space but the residency offers a period of time for research, reflection and study.

Participating artists will be expected to deliver at least one publicly engaged event or donate an artwork created during their residency, as well as a written and visual report of how their time was spent

Individual artists must be resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland and have a minimum of 3 years' professional practice experience.

The deadline for applications is 18th October 2026.
