It was a pleasure to meet with Richard Blair, Food & Beverage Sector Lead with Guaranteed Irish, this week.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the vital role that Irish-owned and Irish-based businesses play in supporting local employment, strengthening communities, and driving economic growth. Cork County Council recognises the importance of initiatives that champion Irish enterprise and help businesses showcase their contribution to our economy.

We look forward to continuing to support businesses across Cork and fostering strong partnerships that help our local economy thrive.

I was delighted to attend the official launch of Europe Direct Carrigaline at Carrigaline Library alongside Michael McGrath, European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection.
As part of a network of eight Europe Direct centres in Ireland and more than 400 centres across the European Union, Europe Direct Carrigaline will serve as a local hub for information, engagement and dialogue on European matters. The centre will provide accessible information on EU policies, rights, opportunities and initiatives, helping people better understand how decisions made at European level impact their daily lives.
Europe Direct Carrigaline will also create valuable opportunities for learning, discussion and community engagement, strengthening the connection between local communities and European institutions. Through its events, resources and outreach activities, it will encourage greater public participation in conversations about Europe and its future.
As Ireland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union this year, the launch of this centre is particularly timely and significant. I encourage everyone to make use of this excellent new resource and to take part in the wide range of events and activities that will be offered in the months ahead.

It was a pleasure to officially launch the Courtmacsherry Nature Memory Archive at Courtmacsherry Community Hall this week. This wonderful community project celebrates the area's rich natural heritage by preserving local memories, stories and experiences of its landscape, wildlife and coastline.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the project to life, and to all who attended the launch. I wish the Archive every success as it continues to grow through future contributions from the community.

It was a pleasure to meet with representatives from Churchtown and St. Mary's Ladies Gaelic Football Club to discuss future development opportunities for the area and the club's ambition to secure a permanent home.
Sports clubs are at the heart of our communities, bringing people together, promoting health and wellbeing, and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. Ensuring clubs have access to quality facilities is essential to supporting participation, inclusion and the continued growth of sport at local level.
