What's one thing you wish people understood about mental health?

On World Mental Health Day 2026, we recognise that real change starts by listening to those with lived experience. The voices of people experiencing mental health challenges are essential in creating services, workplaces and communities that are inclusive, supportive and free from stigma.

Today, take a moment to:
πŸ‘‚Listen without judgement
πŸ’š Check in on someone you care about
πŸ—£οΈShare your story if you feel comfortable
🀝Help create a culture where everyone belongs
Every voice matters. Every story matters. Today, let's commit to listening, learning and taking meaningful action. Listen. Include. Empower.

πŸŽ‰πŸ’™ A wonderful day of celebration at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC! We were delighted to celebrate our BSc Nursing (General, Mental Health and Intellectual Disability) and BSc Midwifery students at their End of Programme Celebration.

πŸŽ“ It was a chance to recognise their hard work, dedication and achievements, and to celebrate the friendships, memories and experiences they have shared along the way. We are so proud of everything our students have achieved and excited to see the impact they will make in the years ahead.

πŸ’« A sincere thank you to Eileen Kelleher, Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC) with Horizons Cork and a UCC Nursing graduate of 2019, for joining us and sharing her experiences since graduating. Changing the Narrative on Su***de. Start the Conversation. Today, the School of Nursing & Midwifery, UCC joins people around the world in recognising the importance of su***de prevention. Changing the narrative means challenging stigma and creating space for honest, compassionate conversations about su***de and emotional distress. For nurses, midwives, and healthcare professionals, listening matters. So does asking the difficult question, taking someone's distress seriously, and helping them connect with appropriate support. But su***de prevention belongs to all of us. πŸ’¬ Start the conversation. πŸ‘‚ Listen without judgement. 🀝 Stay connected. ❀️ Help someone find support. You don't need to have the perfect words. Sometimes, simply being willing to listen can be an important first step. Today, we also remember those who have died by su***de and acknowledge the lasting impact on those who are bereaved. If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available in Ireland: Samaritans: 116 123 Pieta: 1800 247 247 Text About It: text HELLO to 50808 These services are available 24/7. In an immediate emergency, call 112/999 or attend your nearest Emergency Department. Let's keep talking. Let's keep listening. ***dePreventionDay ***dePrevention
