🚨 TEST IT TUESDAY 🚨

It's Fire Safety Week 2026, but one important reminder stays the same every Tuesday!

🔥 Test your smoke alarms!

A working smoke alarm provides an early warning of fire, giving you and your family valuable time to escape.

✅ Press the test button on every smoke alarm in your home.

🔋 Replace batteries when needed, unless it's a sealed-battery alarm.

📅 Check the age of your alarms. Replace them every 10 years.

🧹 Keep alarms clean and free from dust.

Today, October 12th, marks the launch of National Fire Safety Week. The theme is ‘Know Your Room, Know the Risk’, and we will be marking each day with some general fire safety advice to help you identify risks in your own rooms and what you can do to protect yourself and others in any room you might be in.

This week is National Fire Safety Week. The theme for this year is “Know Your Room, Know the Risk, Know the Person”

Every room has different fire risks. Take a moment to identify hazards, know your nearest escape route, and think about who may need help in an emergency. Awareness and preparation can help protect you, your family, friends and neighbours.

Fantastic to see the continued investment both locally and nationally in the fire and rescue service in Ireland by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage with new stations, modern fire appliances, the Urban Search & Rescue project and now the High Capacity Pump appliances!
