🏮🏮To celebrate Halloween at Cahir Castle the OPW - Office of Public Works are hosting a Lecture ‘The Banshee in Irish Folklore’ by Historian Dr. Gillian Kenny who will explore the Banshee from medieval sources through to the twentieth-century🏮🏮.
Diving into details such as why she was believed to follow certain Irish families or why she so often appears combing her hair. How her cry connects to ‘keening’ an old Irish mourning tradition when women sang laments for the dead at funerals. Uncover Ireland’s legendary death messenger, the Banshee and her link to grief, folklore and the lives of women in Irish history. Get your tickets now!

Heritage Week got off to a great start here at Cahir Castle, with an amazing concert by Noel Cotter and his band, Donnybrook Fair. The band treated the crowd to a fantastic performance and all thoroughly enjoyed the festival atmosphere in glorious sunshine.
Meanwhile, the Inch Field was transformed by a spectacular display of vintage cars. The display of icons of a bygone age brought wonderful colour and joy - brilliantly organised, as usual, by the hard-working Cahir Tidy Towns , ,

Donnybrook Fair are nearly here! We're all very excited here in Cahir Castle about our upcoming Concert here tomorrow to celebrate Heritage Week! As the weather is on our side, we've decided to hold the event in the Outer Courtyard here in the Castle. Our tickets - which are free - were snapped up very quickly, but as we'll be outdoors we will have more room for the music lovers on the day. The ticket holders will all have chairs, so anyone who was not lucky enough to grab one of those tickets is invited to bring a camping chair with them. Donnybrook Fair will be kicking off the proceedings here at 3pm on Saturday 15th August.

Sarah Lafferty's one-woman show "How to become a Movie Star" is in Cahir Castle for one night only - tonight! The show is being organised by the wonderful Cahir Social and Historical Society. This show was a resounding sucess at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and we are hugely excited here in Cahir Castle to be hosting such an event.
