looking forward to learning about the formation of drowned forests like ours at Bunaneer!

Friday afternoon's event at Bunaneer will start at the shore at 3pm. we are meeting in Castlecove from 2pm. Please go to the Riverside Cafe in Castlecove V93 W864 and we'll start heading down to the shore at around 2.30pm.

Robin Lewando's research provides new insights into the formation of drowned forests along the Irish coast. We visit the drowned forest at Bunaneer which is an extraordinary example of such a forest. He talk about Bunaneer as a site, but then explore the effect of rising sea level on the coast of south west Ireland and some of the deeper implications that are becoming apparent as we consider more of the sites within their local context. Why the different sites are where they are, why they are different, and what those differences appear to be, and what picture can we build up of the areas that are now coastal.
