A Heartfelt Thank You ❤️

A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, got in touch, and brought clothing to Boyle Family Resource Centre in response to our recent clothing appeal.

We have been truly overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity, and incredible response from our community. The support we have received has been amazing, and we are so grateful to everyone who took the time to help.

Due to the fantastic response, we have now reached full capacity and, unfortunately, are unable to accept any further clothing donations at this time.

It is moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to live and work in such a caring and generous community. Your support means so much to us and to the people and families we work with.

From all of us here at Boyle Family Resource Centre, thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support. It truly means the world to us. ❤️

"On Thursday, members of Boyle Men’s Group were delighted to be invited by Keadue Rural Men’s Group to enjoy a lovely dinner together. Thank you to Caroline from Roscommon LEADER for organising the get together, and to all the staff at Mo Chairde for looking after us so well.

It was wonderful to get together again, share a lovely meal, and enjoy the great company and conversation. Looking forward to many more get-togethers!"

🎨 the end that's a wrap for our Adult Arts Workshop

Last Tuesday marked the final session of our five-week Adult Craft Workshops, facilitated by Mo from Hullabaloo.

Over the course of the workshops, they have enjoyed learning and trying out new skills, exploring a range of crafts including pottery painting, decoupage and jewellery making, to name just a few.

It’s been wonderful to see everyone get involved, share ideas and enjoy some time to relax, get creative and connect with others in a welcoming and friendly environment.

A huge thank you to Mo from Hullabaloo for sharing her knowledge, creativity and enthusiasm, and to everyone who took part and helped make the workshops such a success.

📚 Our Book Club Reads for October & November! 🍂

After a lovely meeting last week following our summer break, we’re delighted to be back and ready to dive into two brilliant books as the evenings grow darker!

October: The Curlew’s Cry by Tom O’Brien

A discovery in a west of Ireland bog unearths a secret buried for almost thirty years. Forensic scientist Eve Kelly’s search for answers takes her from rural Roscommon to Dublin and 1970s London, uncovering a hidden family history that challenges everything she thought she knew. A compelling story of family, identity, inheritance, and the age-old question of nature versus nurture.

November: The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry

Set in Roscommon Regional Mental Hospital, this moving novel follows Roseanne McNulty, an elderly patient who begins writing her life story in secret. As Dr Grene, the hospital’s psychiatrist, investigates her past ahead of the hospital’s closure, two very different accounts emerge. Against the backdrop of Ireland’s religious and political upheavals of the 1920s and 1930s, the novel explores memory, truth, identity, and the lasting impact of the past.

Two thought-provoking reads, rich in Irish history, family secrets and unforgettable characters. We can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts and enjoy another couple of months of great reading and conversation together!
