Garinish Island is closed to the Public, Wednesday 14th October due to industrial action. The OPW regrets any inconvenience caused. The site will reopen on Thursday 15th October.

Garinish Island visiting hours will change from 1st October. We will close at 16:30 with last landing on the island at 15:30. There is still so much colour and beauty and we look forward to welcoming you until 1st November.

Due to worsening weather conditions, Garinish island will close today at 1pm (29 September). We apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming our visitors again tomorrow.

There is a planned outage of power on Garinish Island on Friday 25th September. It is anticipated that we will reopen at 1 pm and The ferries will hope to land at that time. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Free admission for all visitors under the age of 18 to OPW heritage sites this August!

This initiative aims to encourage young people to explore their heritage and enjoy all that Ireland has to offer. From the summer cultural programme of music and events at Castletown House in Kildare to the stories of prehistoric Ireland at Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery in Sligo - there is something for everyone to enjoy.

🔗Pre-booked tickets are required in order to manage capacities at sites for the duration of the pilot scheme, and all children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Free Event: Join us for an Irish Sign Language (ISL) Tour of Garinish Island

Date: Saturday 4th July
Time: 1pm

Garinish Island is delighted to offer an Irish Sign Language Tour as part of the OPW ISL Programme.
This Guided tour will be carried out by one of our OPW Tour Guides and interpreted by an experienced ISL Interpreter.
This is a free guided tour but booking is required.

At any time of the year Garinish is an amazing place but right now you can enjoy a magnificent show of early summer colour. Book your visit and don’t miss this special time on the island.
