YoungBallymun Youngballymun also works with wider partners at national level and in other communities to disseminate and share the learning from our work.

Youngballymun commenced in 2007 and is part of the national Area-Based Childhood (ABC) programme focused on improving wellbeing and learning outcomes for children. Our services develop capacity of parents and practitioners across children’s, family and community environments and the relevant children’s services in the health, early years, primary education, community and other sectors. Youngballymun strives to ensure change at all levels for children, to ensure the best possible outcomes. The Youngballymun plan is structured around four strands, three practice and one strategic. Across the practice strands – Infant Mental Health; Parenting for Social and Emotional Wellbeing; and Family and Community Language and Literacy – the focus is on working with parents to maximise their capacity to improve children’s outcomes through evidence-based ways of working. Through all of this work, there is a renewed emphasis on mainstreaming and developing service capacity, working in partnership with other organisations in the community to integrate new ways of working and drive quality practice. The Prevention and Early Intervention Partnership and Policy strand supports the other strands by facilitating collaboration at local level and by communicating about this work to wider audiences.

What a day to take the fun outside! ☀️

Our Family Fun with Numbers programme finished up today in St Joseph's School.

We combined two of our favourite things — books & the great outdoors! We counted characters in Room on the Broom and had lots of fun bounding like dogs and clambering through our themed games.

Then we took the learning outside, spotting shapes, patterns and numbers all around the school grounds. We played nature bingo and talked about how numeracy is truly everywhere.

Such a fun, brilliant group to finish with! 🌿🔢

💗🌸 Thanks to Eimear from St Joseph's school for bringing together the parents, school staff, organisations & community of Ballymun at the Pink Coffee Morning. What an incredible, impactful way to bring people together and raise vital funds for breast cancer research. The coffee was lovely, too.
Well done to all involved. 💗🌟

This week in our Family Fun with Numbers programme we got hands-on making playdough! ✨

Parents had so much fun (and got a little competitive!) building different 2D & 3D shapes including spheres, hexagons, cuboids, cones and pyramids, triangles, stars, and squares. ◻️⭕️🔺️

Lots of laughs, learning, and creations. We can't wait for the fun again next week! 🙌

Swipe to see the delicious sweet treat we were spoilt with by one of our lovely Mammies. 😋❤️

🔢🌟 We had lots of fun this morning for week 2 of Family Fun with Numbers in St Joseph's school.
We poured, measured, and estimated (& laughed a lot)as we baked animal biscuits. Parents took home a numeracy pack, recipes & voucher to enjoy the fun at home with their children❣️

📖🍞 It was such a pleasure to join this morning at their Traveller women's group & Parenting Plus programme. We delivered a bespoke Hug Your Book session and spoke about storytelling with children, which is a rich oral tradition in the Traveller community.
The chats were as good as the bread 💛🌟

Another fantastic block of baby massage class comes to an end! 👶✨ As always, we finished up on week 5 with a Hug Your Book session. Our duos received a lovely book & some helpful tips & interesting facts about sharing books together ♥️🌟 for example:

💡Did you know that reading to your baby helps build attachment and connection while also wiring their brains for speech.
💡You don't have to read the words on the page, you can speak about the pictures or stay on the same page for as long as baby likes.
💡We encourage English learners to speak in your first language or the language you're most comfortable with. It's the sound of your voice and the pattern of the sounds that work the magic for baby's brain 🧠

Thank you all for coming. ❤️🥰
