We were delighted to see our Unit taking part in the National LDP 2 and LDP 3 Leadership Development Programme courses in Castletown this weekend.

Alongside members of the Order of Malta Region and colleagues from across the country, Palmerstown members had the opportunity to build valuable leadership skills, broaden their knowledge and share experiences with fellow volunteers.

These courses play an important role in supporting and developing the leaders of tomorrow, helping our members grow in confidence and continue making a difference in their communities.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part — 🚑👏

💙 From Cadet to Inspiring Educator! 💙

Some journeys come full circle—and Ben Malone’s is one of them. Ben started his journey to becoming a paramedic as a cadet right here in Palmerstown and last night he returned to lead an engaging talk on diabetes and ketones. 🩸

Through his talk, Ben shared valuable insights into diabetes, the importance of recognising changes in blood glucose and ketone levels, and how these can influence patient care.

Ongoing training helps our volunteers build the confidence and skills needed to respond effectively in emergency situations. 🚑

💍 A Very Special Day for ! 💒

Yesterday, members of Order of Malta Palmerstown swapped their uniforms for their glad rags as we came together to celebrate the wedding of two of our very own, John Butler and Shauna Carton! ❤️

It was wonderful to see so many of our Palmerstown family together to celebrate such a special occasion, sharing laughs, making memories and enjoying a fantastic day with the happy couple.

From everyone at Order of Malta Palmerstown, we wish John and Shauna a lifetime of love, laughter, happiness and wonderful adventures together.

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Butler ! 🥂❤️

Order of Malta Ireland National Competitions – Ballina 2026 🏆

A fantastic weekend for our volunteers as we travelled to Ballina to take part in the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps National Competitions!

This yearly event is a brilliant opportunity to put our skills and training to the test, learn from fellow volunteers and enjoy some friendly competition with units from across the country.

Congratulations to Megan for taking 3rd place in the EFR individual competition and to Bronagh who took home the 1st place trophy in FAR individual. We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented Palmerstown, showing great teamwork, dedication and enthusiasm throughout the weekend.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such a fantastic event and to all the volunteers who made the trip so memorable. Here's to friendship, teamwork and continuing to learn and grow together!

Our volunteers had a busy but brilliant Saturday, providing medical cover at a Family Fun Day and the Palmerstown Community Council Céilí at the Crossroads! 🚑☘️ Between the music, dancing, fun and plenty of community spirit, there was never a dull moment!

It was also an extra-special day for some of our Youth members, who took part in their very first duties as senior members after progressing from our Cadet Unit. It’s fantastic to see them taking that next step, getting involved alongside the senior crew and putting all that training into practice. 🚑👏

Thankfully, everyone resisted the céilí long enough to keep an eye on things… although we can’t guarantee there weren’t a few questionable dance moves from the crew! 💃🕺

A great day supporting our community — and a proud one watching the next generation of Palmerstown volunteers getting stuck in! ❤️☘️

Our volunteers are making a difference every day! 🚑❤️

Over the past few weeks, our crews have provided ambulance and foot crew medical cover at concerts, family fun days, football matches and community events.

They’ve also supported local people with patient transport to hospital appointments, while continuing regular training to keep their skills sharp and stay ready to respond.

Thank you to all our volunteers for your time, energy and compassion—and to the communities and organisers who welcome us so warmly.

Serving our community, supporting our community. ❤️🚑

Volunteering with the Palmerstown team is a rewarding way to support local people, build confidence and develop practical first-aid and emergency response skills.

There are opportunities to get involved in ambulance support, event medical cover, foot crew duties and patient transport, with training and support provided along the way. Whether you can give a regular commitment or help out when you’re available, your time can make a real difference.

Ready to get involved? Get in touch today and find out how you can volunteer!

🎉 Massive congratulations to our Cadets Donnacha and Aoife, on winning the trophy for Home Nursing at the Order of Malta All Ireland Cadet Competitions in Lisnaskea yesterday! 🏆👏

All the hard work, training, and determination paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of you all.

You represented Palmerstown and the Eastern Region with skill, confidence, and a fantastic team spirit—what an incredible achievement!

A huge thank you also goes to our amazing cadet leaders, whose dedication, encouragement, patience (and probably endless cups of tea! ☕😂) helped make this success possible. Your commitment to developing our cadets doesn’t go unnoticed, and this victory is something you should all be proud of.

Enjoy celebrating—you’ve all earned it!
