An Exhibition Exploring Neurodivergent Experience

Through Our Senses invites visitors to step into the rich and varied ways neurodivergent people experience and interpret the world. Bringing together a blend of tactile and non-tactile works, this exhibition offers an opportunity for neurotypical audiences to engage with perspectives that are often unseen, unheard, or misunderstood.

Through sculpture, texture, colour, sound, and visual storytelling, the artists explore sensory processing, perception, emotion, and connection. Each work reflects a unique lived experience while contributing to a broader conversation about neurodiversity, understanding, and inclusion.

Featuring works by:

✨ Discover Strata & Stories by Irish artist Maeve McGowan, a captivating new exhibition inspired by the dramatic geology of Loughshinny Harbour.

Using hand-sculpted plaster and layers of acrylic paint, Maeve transforms ancient rock formations into richly textured artworks that explore time, memory and resilience. Inspired by the sweeping folds and fractures of the coastline, each piece reveals the hidden stories written into the landscape over millions of years.
A celebration of nature’s power and beauty, Strata & Stories invites us to pause, look closer, and connect with the remarkable stories beneath our feet.

🌊 Ardgillan Studios’ Featured Artist of the Month 🌊

Meet Donna Ironmonger, a ceramist who recently acquired a studio at Ardgillan Castle. We look forward to watching her practice flourish as she creates beautiful handmade ceramics and develops a programme of pottery classes for visitors and the local community!

Donna’s journey into ceramics began as a personal exploration of creativity and mindfulness. Over time, it evolved into a full-time practice rooted in curiosity, craftsmanship, and a desire to make objects that bring beauty into your home.

The pottery isn’t just functional; it tells a story. Inspired by the rugged beauty and vibrant culture of Ireland, the designs incorporate iconic local Irish landscape and seascape imagery that will take you on a journey. This imbues each creation with a unique Irish identity, setting it apart from mass-produced items.

Today, Donna’s work is collected by those who value slow craft and the individuality of handmade pieces. Each creation is a small celebration of process, patience, and the relationship between maker, material, and user.
