In 1930, Miguel Covarrubias came to Bali with his wife, Rosa Covarrubias.

Later on 1937, Covarrubias published a book as a guidance of foreigners planning to visit Bali, the title of the book is “Island of Bali”.

Covarrubias wrote his concerns about the exploitation of Bali for the sake of large-scale tourism and the lack of appreciation of local culture and the luxurious hotels modernization.

In 1950, President Soekarno sent Dullah to Bali with a special mission: to deliver a letter announcing his visit, along with the Prime Minister of India, to Le Mayeur’s painting studio. In that same letter, Soekarno also requested Le Mayeur to mentor Dullah in painting.

This artwork is one of Dullah’s paintings created during his time studying under Le Mayeur in Bali, reflecting an important moment in his artistic journey and development.

French painter Victor Tardieu was a pivotal figure in Vietnamese modern art. Featured is the 1925 "Mother Scene," a charcoal and pastel testament to his ability to capture human character with just a few strokes. Also the intricate creative process of Victor Tardieu through one of his most significant studies, "Etude pour Fresque a L'Universite d'Hanoi".

These collections features his 1928 oil study for the monumental 77m2, the mural "The Metropolis", Hanoi University fresco, showcasing the classic "grid technique" used to scale his vision.
