ENGLISH
Some stories don’t just change a person, they change everything around them.

Wahyu is one of those stories.
Once a dolphin trainer in a travelling circus, now a voice for their freedom. When that chapter of her life closed, something shifted and she chose a completely different path.

Today, she stands with Umah Lumba, sharing a message that dolphins are not here for our entertainment. They are wild, intelligent, and deserve to stay that way.

Beyond that, she also nurtures the next generation, teaching our kids traditional Balinese dance at the Umah Lumba Education Centre, passing on culture with the same heart she now uses to protect marine life.

Real change looks like this 🤍

Umah Lumba’s students just got their hands dirty in the best way 🌱

Today’s practical was making eco enzymes 🍊
A natural liquid made from fermented fruit and vegetable scraps, sugar, and water

Simple, but powerful ♻️
Eco enzymes can be used as a natural cleaner, fertilizer, and pest control reducing chemical waste and giving organic scraps a second life instead of ending up in landfills or the ocean 🌊

Small actions, real impact ✨

On May 17, 2026, we gathered at the Umah Lumba Education Center with the Abyss Ocean World team for a hands-on marine mammal stranding training led by Kak Wahyu. With 8 participants in the room, the session was intimate, focused, and full of meaningful exchange.

Together, we explored what it truly takes to respond to stranded marine mammals with care, knowledge, and respect. Because when the moment comes, being prepared can mean everything.

In a place like Bali where tourism moves fast and money follows close behind, respect for wildlife has to move even faster

On May 14, 2026, 17 dolphin watching boat captains in Pemuteran showed up to listen, learn, and take accountability. Not just for better practices, but for the lives they encounter every day out at sea

Ethics is not a trend. Sustainability is not a marketing word. It is the difference between coexistence and exploitation

Because if we keep taking without thinking, there will be nothing left to come back to 🐬✨

A day in the life of Ati, our Education Centre Coordinator 💛

From English lessons to environmental education and traditional Balinese dancing, Ati helps create a safe space where children can learn, grow, and stay connected to both nature and culture.

At Umah Lumba, all of our classes are completely free for the local community, and that is only possible because of your support.

Children are our future, and investing in education means investing in a kinder, more conscious generation for Bali and beyond 🌱✨

On May 5, a s***m whale was stranded on Melaya Beach, trapped in shallow waters since 2 PM.

Our team received this report at 4 PM, but by the time we arrived, the whale had already passed away.

This heartbreaking loss is a reminder of how critical fast reporting and rapid response truly are. Early action can mean the difference between life and death for stranded marine mammals.

Together with KKP, Polres Jembrana, Yayasan Wai, and local authorities, we conducted a necropsy and laid this beautiful gentle giant to rest.

Rest easy, gentle soul. 🖤🌊

Mangroves are more than just trees by the sea 🌱
They are nurseries for marine life, homes for birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects, and natural protectors of our coastlines. They absorb huge amounts of carbon, prevent erosion, and keep ecosystems alive and thriving.

Indonesia is proud to host the largest mangrove ecosystem in the world, making their protection more important than ever.

For us at Umah Lumba, preserving mangroves means protecting the countless lives that depend on them and preserving the balance between humans, wildlife, and the ocean. 🌊
