On Friday, May 1st, the U.S. Consulate General Surabaya is aware of a planned demonstration commemorating International Labor Day 2026 around the East Java Governor’s Office (Grahadi Building). The Grahadi Building is in downtown Surabaya. Media reports indicate the protest will be organized by various worker organizations.  
 
Demonstrations may result in enhanced police presence, road closures, and traffic disruptions. Any demonstration, even those intended to be peaceful, could escalate and turn violent. 
 
Actions to take:
·        Avoid the area around the Grahadi Building on May 1st 
·        Monitor local media for updates 
·        Allow extra time for travel due to potential road closures 
·        Follow instructions from local authorities

mengimbau adanya kemungkinan demonstrasi spontan terkait perkembangan situasi di Timur Tengah yang dapat terjadi di Surabaya pada 13 Maret 2026, pukul 12.00–18.00 WIB.

Lokasi yang perlu dihindari:
• Jalan Sedap Malam, Surabaya
• Jalan Gubernur Suryo, Surabaya – di depan Kantor Gubernur Jawa Timur (Gedung Negara Grahadi)
• Area pusat kota Surabaya (downtown area)

Pihak berwenang setempat dapat meningkatkan langkah pengamanan, termasuk penutupan jalan, pembatasan lalu lintas, atau peningkatan kehadiran aparat keamanan di area demonstrasi.
