Policewomen begin wearing
‘hijab’

Several policewomen in Sidoarjo and Surabaya, East Java, donned the Islamic head scarf or hijab on Friday following the National Police’s decision to lift a ban on wearing the attire.

“This is the National Police chief’s decision. Policewomen are now allowed to wear head scarves,” Surabaya Police chief Sr. Comr. Setija Junianta said as quoted by tribunnews.com. He said that of 146 policewomen stationed in Surabaya, 40 of them had officially requested to be allowed to wear the hijab.

National Police chief Gen. Sutarman gave his approval on Wednesday, allowing policewomen to wear the Islamic head covering to work.

“Wearing a hijab is part of religious freedom. Policewomen who want to cover their heads can do so, just like the policewomen in Aceh. They must, of course, buy their own hijab as we don’t have the budget to supply them,” he said at National Police headquarters in South Jakarta recently.

Polri dan Australia Lanjutkan Kerja Sama Bidang Pendidikan

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Kepolisian Republik Indonesia (Polri) menghentikan sementara kerja sama dengan kepolisian Australia. Namun, kerja sama di bidang pendidikan antarkeduanya terus berjalan.

"Kerjasama pendidikan masih terus berjalan," ujar Kepala Polri, Jenderal Polisi Sutarman kepada Metrotvnews.com di Jakarta, Minggu (24/11).

Menurut dia, kerja sama dengan Kepolisian Australia yang dihentikan hanya di bidang people smuggling (imigran gelap). Selama ini, Indonesia merupakan salah satu tempat singgah favorit imigran gelap sebelum menuju ke Christmas Island, Australia.

Dijaga Puluhan Polisi, Busway Depan Pasar Mampang Steril

Jakarta - Pagi ini Jalur TransJakarta di depan Pasar Mampang steril dari pelanggar. Ternyata pengendara takut melihat ada puluhan polisi yanmg berjaga di jalur TransJakarta itu.

Berdasarkan pantauan detikcom pukul 08.00 WIB, Selasa (26/11/2013), terlihat 23 anggota polisi lalu lintas dan 5 petugas Transjakarta yang berjaga di pertigaan tersebut. Melihat kerumunan petugas, para pengendara tidak berani coba-coba mengarahkan kendaraannya ke jalur TransJakarta.

Selain menjaga lintasan busway, polisi juga menghentikan pengendara yang tidak patuh peraturan. Seorang polisi terpantau menghentikan pemotor yang tidak mengenakan helm.
