🎼On 28 May, the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia in South-East Europe, with the support of the Fundació Pau Casals - Museu , was proud to host a concert and exhibition at the Academy of Music (Muzička akademija, Sveučilište u Zagrebu) in Zagreb marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pau Casals - Catalan cellist, humanist, and tireless advocate for peace.
The concert was opened by delegate Fernández Llopart, who emphasized why it is important to treasure the legacy of Casals, and that his call for peace is unfortunately still very much needed in our societies.
The evening was brought to life by nine outstanding musicians, led by renowned cellist Branimir Pustički and joined by music students: Anamarija Bukovnik, Iva Nodilo, Antonia Pavić, Alida Cossetto, Marta Kekez, Maša Biban Capponi, Lucija Pavlović, and Domagoj Gušćić.
One hundred and fifty years on, Casals' music and his belief in the power of art to transcend borders remain as resonant as ever. We thank all those who joined us for this memorable evening!
The exhibition is open until June 5th and is free of admission.
