On a foggy Friday evening Dutch photographer René Pronk presented his book “Croatia in my Heart”/ "Hrvatska u mom srcu". 🇳🇱 🇭🇷

The fog was a fitting touch. The foggy autumn mornings and evenings create some of René’s most beautiful images, transforming landscapes into something almost magical. That same atmosphere runs throughout this beautiful photobook.

Congratulations to René Pronk on the release of this inspiring book, and on a wonderful evening celebrating the connection between our nations through photography and storytelling! 📖

On International Human Rights Day, we’re reminded that the fight for the protection of human rights happens daily; something we witnessed firsthand at the Mirovna nagrada "Krunoslav Sukić" Peace Award ceremony of the Centre for Peace, Nonviolence, and Human Rights. 🕊️

This ceremony is an important event in Croatia to highlight and learn about the valuable work these people and organizations are doing in protecting the human rights in Croatia and the region.

This year’s laureates are Emina Buzinkic, researcher and peace activist; the documentary “Peacemaker” by Ivan Ramljak, Nenad Puhovski, Hrvoje Zovko and Drago Hedl; Morana Miljanović, Croatian captain; youth center “KVART” from Prijedor; Branko Sekulić, theologian and the students and teachers of Višnjevac Primary school and Joakim Rakovac Primary School.

On the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the promotion and protection of all human rights remains essential. The Centre helps ensure these universal values are lived and upheld at the local level, fostering understanding, accountability, and peaceful coexistence.

We congratulate the laureates and wish them strength and resilience to continue their important work! 🧡

Sinterklaas of course did not skip Zagreb!

As he had to be in the Netherlands on the 5th and in Belgium on the 6th, he made a special pitstop this week in Zagreb to bring presents to the Dutch and Belgian kids living in Croatia. 🇳🇱 🇧🇪

It was a joyful celebration at the Belgian Residence, complete with music, delicious snacks, presents and a visit of Sinterklaas and his Pieten. 🎁 🍬

A warm thank you to everyone who joined us and made this a celebration so memorable. We hope you all had a wonderful Sinterklaas this weekend! 🧡

A productive week on the move!
The political advisors from the 🇳🇱 embassies from the WB6 and Croatia visited Den Haag and Brussels to foster a stronger advisory network of our embassies across the region.

🤝The visit proved to be highly valuable, strengthening the information exchange inside and outside the region. It increased our shared understanding of current developments, and reinforced our effective collaboration.

We had the honor of welcoming a diverse group of exchange students spending their semester through various international programs here in Zagreb. They got a unique behind-the-scenes look at our work at the embassy and consulate, learning about the day-to-day of diplomacy and international relations, and discovering opportunities that may await them in the future.

In celebration of the Day of the Entrepreneur , our Dutch Business Networking Reception this Monday brought together the Dutch business community and partners in Croatia – shining a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible Dutch entrepreneurs active here, and the impact the private sector has on society. 🌟

Over the past year, experts from the Netherlands have generously shared their knowledge with Croatian colleagues and the wider public. These exchanges have strengthened bilateral ties and showcased the value of entrepreneurship and private sector across so many fields: from social-welfare mentoring, and passing on experience from senior to young entrepreneurs, to innovative organizational models in the health sector and AI-driven solutions for urban challenges.

A special touch of the evening was the delicious, stylish catering by aDORAble created by entrepreneur Daniela Drčec. Her beautifully crafted artisan products offered a journey through Croatian flavours. It was an inspiring entrepreneurial story in itself. 🧀 🍇

By the time women are 19 years old, almost 1 in 4 adolescent girls who have been in a relationship have already been physically, sexually, or psychologically abused by a partner.

Today, the Orange the world campaign commences, and the Netherlands remains committed to the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls as a matter of human rights. 🇳🇱

Violence against women and girls is a violation of human rights and a symptom of gender inequality.
All forms of violence – whether physical, sexual, psychological, or economic – infringe on the rights, dignity, and well-being of women and girls.

During these 16 Days of Activism and beyond everyone can take action and speak out. Only by working together can we build a future where women and girls live free from violence.

Let us UNiTE for a world where women can live free from fear. 🧡
