Hong Kong is an international city where both men and women enjoy equal opportunities for career development. Although the construction industry has traditionally been male-dominated, the number of female employees has seen a clear increase – rising from nearly 8 per cent of the construction workforce two decades ago to about 13 per cent in 2025. The number of female students enrolling at the Institute of Construction also continues to climb.

The Hong Kong International Correctional Services Response Tactics Training Academy recently launched its Certificate in Safe and Effective Control Tactics course, introducing a range of defensive techniques - including elements derived from tai chi - to its first cohort of law enforcement officers from jurisdictions such as the Mainland, the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. The Social Welfare Department funded non-governmental organisations to establish Child Protection Support Service Teams in March 2025 to help families facing parenting difficulties or potential risks of child abuse and has so far handled over 400 family cases. To mark the Hong Kong Trail’s 40th anniversary, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department launched a hiking challenge encouraging hikers to explore the trail’s biodiversity and history by collecting e-badges at eight checkpoints for prizes, which has so far attracted over 7,400 people.
