Kelvin (in the green shirt) is one of the youth that we walk alongside with at Hope of the City. When we first met Kelvin, he had encountered various life challenges which left him experiencing a loss of joy, motivation and direction in his life. Our volunteer, Lorraine, shares below about how joining our charity run has helped change his outlook on life:
“Kelvin experienced many ups and through this running journey, but our fellowship supported him through it. At first, he came to our training with a heavy heart and in the midst of life struggles. He wanted to join Hope of the City’s charity run but when he was told there was not enough space for him to join, he almost quit our fellowship. Thankfully a spot opened up and fast forward one year, he is now our fastest runner and is leading our warm up and run every time! I’m really encouraged by him and grateful to witness his changes.
From someone who doesn’t run to having running as his hobby and becoming our running expert in just one year’s time is truly remarkable. His journey also reminds us that change is possible if we keep going. With the right support and fellowship, we can all find the courage to step out of our own box.
Now running is part of his daily life and he feels it has completely changed his world. Even in the midst of his troubles and stress at work, he is now able to see the world differently through running, and is a much happier person now!”
Kelvin, thank you for being an inspiration to us all with your determination and enthusiasm. We know you'll keep going, and we're so proud of you 🙌
