於2001年的「六四」十二周年燭光集會上宣布籌備成立，2002年3月1日正式成立。「支青組」需要你們的參與，需要你們的力量，需要你們的意見，齊來認識民主理念、關心時事。 繼承民主烈士遺志，將支援中國民主運動的訊息及工作延續下去，與獨裁的政權抗爭，爭取結束一黨專政，建設民主中國。
