In 1784, the Empress of China 🚢 set sail from New York to Canton, marking the first official American voyage to China and opening a new chapter in relations between the two countries.

Carrying prized goods such as porcelain, silk, and ginseng🏺🧵, the voyage was a remarkable commercial success and helped lay the foundations for early trade between the United States and China.
