🌳Shenzhen and Hong Kong Joint Exhibition on Nature and Science Popularisation✨
In celebration of 🌏Earth Day on 22 April, the Shenzhen Urban Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department of the HKSAR jointly launched the "Shenzhen and Hong Kong Joint Exhibition on Nature and Science Popularisation". The exhibition, organised by Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark, Hong Kong Geopark and the Hong Kong Science Museum, will run from 22 April to 15 June in the 📍G/F exhibition hall of the Hong Kong Science Museum (closed on Thursdays). 🎯
Shenzhen and Hong Kong share the same breathtaking mountains and seas and a rich geological and ecological evolutionary history. Both regions are part of a vast volcanic area🌋 from the early Cretaceous period and have experienced similar geological transformations. Their ecosystems are interconnected🦎, with shared forests and oceans. The exhibition explores various themes, including geological history, geological heritage, ecological resources, nature conservation, environmental protection, and the planning and development of liveable cities in both regions. It features an array of specimens and promotional souvenirs that invite citizens to gain a deeper appreciation of the natural treasures shared by Shenzhen and Hong Kong.🐬🌱
The exhibition opening ceremony took place on the morning of 22 April at the Hong Kong Science Museum. Notable attendees included Ms. Ester To, Assistant Director (Country Parks) of Hong Kong’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department; and Mr. Lau Kai-ip, Director of the Hong Kong Science Museum, alongside representatives from the Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark Management Office, the Guangdong Neilingding Futian National Nature Reserve Administration Bureau, the Shenzhen Wutong Mountain Scenic Area Management Office, the Shenzhen Nature Reserve Management Center, the Shenzhen Urban Planning & Land Resource Research Center, Hong Kong Geopark and the Hong Kong Science Museum. This meaningful gathering facilitated in-depth discussions on nature conservation, public education, urban planning and development in the two cities. 😉🤝🏻
The organisers aim for the exhibition to enlighten citizens about the precious natural resources of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, as well as the significant achievements both places have made in cultivating environmentally friendly and liveable cities. A special interactive area featuring commemorative postcards and stamping will be available at the exhibition, with limited supplies — don’t miss out!
Remark💬: The Hong Kong Science Museum offers free admission to its permanent exhibition halls every Wednesday and is closed on Thursdays.
