MIQFF aims to celebrate & promote LGBTQ+ filmmaking by showcasing diverse and thought-provoking q***r narratives from around the world. The festival is designed to provide LGBTQ+ filmmakers with a platform to tell their stories and to foster cultural exchange and dialogue regarding the portrayal of q***r people in cinema.

This year Austria is represented by the film "๐—˜๐—œ๐—ฆ๐— ๐—”๐—ฌ๐—˜๐—ฅ" directed by David Wagner.

๐Ÿ›ˆ Sergeant Major Eismayer is known and feared as the toughest training officer in the Austrian Armed Forces. This year the Infinite Frames Short Film Festival 2026 featured 10 short films produced by students from the University of Hong Kong, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the University of Television and Film Munich, The Film Academy of Miroslav Ondล™รญฤek in Pรญsek, Czech Republic, and the Viennese director Georg Tiller. It explored the state of transformation in today's contemporary culture through the powerful lens of moving images. ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

The films showcased the studentsโ€™ diverse creativity in tackling the challenge of integrating artificial intelligence into production processesโ€”a fascinating and timely topic that was also discussed during a public discussion with invited professional filmmakers and students to inform the audience about the fruitful potential of filmmaking with Generative AI (GenAI).

We extend our special appreciation to Nikolas Ettel, the Austrian researcher and lecturer at the University of Hong Kong and Associate Curator at the University Museum and Art Gallery, who took the initiative to organize this valuable academic and artistic collaboration project and served as the festivalโ€™s host and moderator.
