“Your God would never punish you for being a human being: this life itself is your penance… but it is also more than that: it is a crucible for transformation. Each trial, every loss, is an opportunity you to meet suffering with love, and make it an offering, a prayer. The minute you lift your pain, like a candle the darkness vanishes, and mercy comes rushing in to heal you.”
-Mirabai Starr

We blow smoke into our own mirrors, causing our own chaos and confusion. When we decide to toss our patterns into the fire, a new pathway emerges and we expand our capacity for life. Sometimes we have to stand in the smoke for along time, until we finally get tired of struggling to breathe, we eventually move, take a deep inhale and soften in to the peace that’s always been available just waiting to be chosen.

"The hands of the grandmother"

They preserve culture and traditions, passing on codes of knowledge and wisdom that transcend through generations as they adapt to the inevitable chain of evolution.

They keep all colors, textures and flavours alive; They communicate through time following the practices of art, storytelling, labor, love and care(most importantly).

These are photographs of Doña Catarina who practices and creates hand-made textiles in San Marcos la Laguna, Guatemala.

La naturaleza no es un lugar para visitar. Es el hogar.

The precise role of the artist, then, is to illuminate that darkness blaze roads through that vast forest, so that we will not, in all our doing, lose sight of its purpose, which is, after all, to make the world a more human dwelling place.
