🦟 Mosquitoes are having a busy summer, but with a few simple precautions they don't have to spoil yours!

As West Nile virus cases tend to increase during late summer, the Hellenic National Public Health Organisation (EODY) recommends taking a few simple steps to help protect yourself and reduce mosquito breeding around your home.

✅ Use approved insect repellent on exposed skin and over clothing.
✅ Wear long sleeves and long trousers, especially at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
✅ Fit insect screens to doors and windows, and use mosquito nets where needed.
✅ Use fans or air conditioning, which can help reduce mosquitoes indoors.
✅ Remove standing water from balconies, gardens, flowerpots, buckets, plant saucers and other containers.
✅ Regularly clean gutters and other areas where water may collect.

⚠️ Quick check: Have you added your emergency contact details inside your passport?
✅ If not, now is a good time to do it.
📌 It only takes a moment, but in an emergency it can make a real difference by helping local authorities contact your loved ones and support you more quickly when it matters most.

📤 Please consider sharing this reminder with friends and family who may find it helpful.

🇬🇷 15 August, the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, is one of Greece's biggest religious celebrations. Across the country, villages and islands come alive with church processions, traditional music, dancing and local food.

Some favourite destinations include:
✨ Tinos and its famous pilgrimage
💃 Ikaria's all-night festivals
🎻 Naxos with traditional music and dancing
🐍 Kefalonia and the "snakes of the Virgin Mary"
⛪ Paros, home to one of Greece's most important churches

Wherever you are, ask a local where the nearest panigyri is. You'll be warmly welcomed, well fed and likely dancing until late! 🇬🇷❤️

What's the best Greek panigyri you've experienced? 👇

🛵⚠️ Thinking of hiring a moped or quad bike?

Every year, people suffer serious injuries and even death due to accidents involving quad bikes and mopeds.

Before you hire:

⚠️ Check that your driving licence allows you to ride the vehicle in Greece.
⚠️ Make sure your travel insurance explicitly covers quad bike use, as it is often excluded by standard policies.
⚠️ Get full instructions on how to operate the vehicle safely.
⚠️ Always wear a helmet – failure to do so could invalidate your insurance.

If you're inexperienced, take extra care. You'll be sharing roads with larger and faster vehicles, and an accident could result in significant and unexpected costs.
