Gambia Public Procurement Authority Held a Three Day Procurement Training for Ten Government Institutions and Agencies.
A three day training on Procurement Procedures successfully brought together participants from ten government ministries, public institutions, and agencies to strengthen knowledge, enhance transparency and improve compliance with public procurement regulations and practices.
The training served as an important platform for procurement officers, administrators, finance personnel, and institutional representatives to deepen their understanding of procurement laws, procedures, contract management, and accountability mechanisms within public institutions.
Participants were drawn from a wide range of institutions and agencies including the National Environment Agency, Gambia Printing and Publishing Corporation, Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs,
Ministry of Information Media and Broadcasting Services, Social Development Fund, Gambia International Airlines,
National Youth Service Scheme,
Saint Augustine’s Senior Secondary School
and the Ministry of Fisheries and Water Resources, under the coordination of the Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA).
Throughout the three days, facilitators from GPPA guided participants through key areas of procurement procedures including the legal and regulatory framework, procurement planning, bidding processes,
evaluation procedures, contract administration, and ethical standards in public procurement.
The training emphasized the importance of transparency, fairness, accountability, and value for money in the management of public resources.
Participants actively engaged in discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at improving institutional procurement practices and promoting compliance with national procurement regulations.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Director General Phoday Jaiteh highlighted the critical role procurement plays in effective public service delivery and national development.
The Director of Procurement Policy and Operations, Ebrima Sanyang, encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training within their respective institutions to strengthen governance, accountability, and institutional efficiency.
Speaking on behalf of Participants the Managing Director of the Gambia Printing and Publishing Corporation Mr. Wurra Bah expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing the training as timely, informative, and beneficial in addressing practical challenges faced in procurement processes within respective institutions.
The three-day engagement concluded with renewed commitment from participating institutions to uphold professionalism, integrity, transparency, and compliance in procurement operations across government ministries, public institutions, and agencies.
