The National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NAATIP) received a generous donation of essential items from the Child & Environment Development Association the Gambia (CEDAG), presented by its National Coordinator, Mr. Morris I.O. Anyim, to support vulnerable victims under the Agency's care.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Morris I.O. Anyim thanked the Executive Director and the management of NAATIP for creating an enabling environment for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to contribute meaningfully to the fight against trafficking in persons. He reaffirmed CEDAG commitment to continuing its partnership with NAATIP and supporting initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable children, women, and communities.

Receiving the items on behalf of NAATIP, the Executive Director, Mrs. Isatou Dabo, warmly welcomed the gesture and expressed her profound appreciation to CEDAG for its continued commitment to supporting victims of trafficking and other vulnerable persons. She noted that the donated items will go a long way in addressing the immediate needs of beneficiaries and enhancing their wellbeing.

Mrs. Dabo further described CEDAG as a natural partner in the fight against trafficking in persons, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between government institutions and civil society organizations in protecting vulnerable populations and providing assistance to victims.

NAATIP remains grateful for the unwavering support of its partners and stakeholders whose contributions continue to strengthen victim protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration efforts across The Gambia.

FFM II Demand-Driven Facility: Approximately D25 Million Investment to Strengthen The Gambia’s Fight Against Human Trafficking through NAATIP.

The National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NATP) has successfully secured funding under the FFM II Demand-Driven Facility Project, with an implementation ceiling of approximately D25 million (€300,000) to support key interventions aimed at strengthening The Gambia’s response to trafficking in persons and protection of vulnerable groups.

The project will focus on four major areas of intervention:
1. Capacity strengthening of the Investigations Unit to improve investigative skills, coordination, and operational effectiveness in trafficking in persons cases.

2. Development of Training manuals for civil society organizations, health workers, and religious leaders to enhance coordinated identification, referral, and support services for victims.

3. Development of specialized SOPs for investigators, particularly in handling child victims and persons from vulnerable communities, ensuring a more victim-centered and rights-based approach.

4. Development of a National Trafficking in Persons Plus Strategy to strengthen national coordination, policy direction, prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnerships in addressing trafficking in persons in The Gambia.

The project is expected to last for 18 months.

Over the past weeks, key stakeholders including religious leaders, the Gambia Immigration Department, Ministry of Justice and Civil society organisations were met to introduce the project and discuss pertinent issues around its implementation .

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐌𝐑𝐅 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Executive Director of the National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NAATIP), Isatou Dabo, joined The Gambia’s high-level delegation at the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) 2026 in New York.

Led by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sering Modou Njie, the delegation presented The Gambia’s Voluntary Review Report on the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), reaffirming the country’s strong commitment to safe, orderly and regular migration.

As a recognised GCM Champion Country, The Gambia continues to demonstrate leadership in strengthening migration governance, enhancing migrant protection, and addressing trafficking in persons through improved coordination, victim protection systems, and institutional capacity-building.

NAATIP remains committed to supporting national and international efforts to combat trafficking in persons and protect vulnerable populations, in line with The Gambia’s broader migration and development agenda.

The National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NAATIP) has intensified its nationwide school outreach and sensitization campaign to educate students on the realities and risks of Trafficking in Persons (TIP).

As part of this ongoing effort, NAATIP engaged students of Sutusinjang Upper Basic School in Foni Brefet District, West Coast Region (WCR). The session focused on building awareness around the various forms of trafficking, common tactics used by traffickers, and the importance of early prevention.

Students were guided on how to recognize warning signs, protect themselves from exploitation, and seek help through appropriate reporting channels. They were also encouraged to take an active role in spreading awareness among their peers and within their communities.

The outreach forms part of NAATIP’s broader strategy to empower young people with knowledge and strengthen grassroots efforts in combating trafficking in persons across The Gambia.

The National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NAATIP) has continued its nationwide school outreach and sensitization campaign aimed at raising awareness on Trafficking in Persons (TIP) among students.

As part of this initiative, a team led by the Agency’s able Executive Director, Isatou Dabo, visited St. John’s Vianney Upper and Senior Secondary School in Foni Brefet District, West Coast Region (WCR).

The session focused on educating students about the dangers of trafficking in persons, how to identify potential risks, and the importance of making informed and responsible decisions.

Students were encouraged to avoid accepting malicious scholarship links, fake job links and to serve as patriotic ambassadors by sharing the knowledge gained during the session with their peers, families, and communities to save lives.

NAATIP remains committed to empowering young people through awareness and education as a key strategy in the prevention of human trafficking.

The National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (NAATIP), Gambia Immigration Department (GID) and UNODC has successfully concluded a four-day capacity-building training for members of the Gambia Immigration Department Female Officers Network (GIFNET).

The training, which forms part of NAATIP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen stakeholders’ capacities and strengthen partnership to response to trafficking in persons, focused on enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills in identifying, preventing, and responding to trafficking cases, as well as promoting victim-centred approaches in line with national and international standards.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the Executive Director, the Acting Head of Investigations, Sheikh Tijan Faal, expressed profound appreciation to all participants for their active engagement and commitment throughout the training. He emphasized the importance of cascading the knowledge and skills acquired to fellow officers at their respective stations and duty posts, thereby strengthening the collective national response to trafficking in persons.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Assistant Commissioner of the Gambia Immigration Department, Binta K. J. Barrow, extended sincere gratitude to NAATIP and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for organizing the training. She highlighted the relevance and timeliness of the sessions and underscored the need for continuous capacity-building initiatives. She further described NAATIP as a key natural partner in the fight against trafficking in persons and commended UNODC for its unwavering support to national efforts.

The training concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants, marking a significant milestone in strengthening inter-agency collaboration and building a more responsive and informed frontline workforce.

NAATIP remains committed to fostering partnerships and enhancing the capacity of stakeholders in the collective fight against trafficking in persons in The Gambia.
