The Chairperson of the Ghana Sports Fund, Prof. Koryoe Anim-Wright, led a delegation to seek the blessings of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for an initiative aimed at mobilising resources for sports development.

The agenda covers athlete development, grassroots sport, sports infrastructure, capacity building, and high-performance preparation.

The team visited the Manhyia Palace on 13th May 2026, where the Asantehene gave positive feedback on the proposal.

As we honour the memories of the departed, we also reflect on the importance of safety, discipline, unity, and responsible conduct at sporting events.

Football and sports in general are meant to unite, inspire, and entertain, never to divide or destroy lives.

Athletes and Parents Seminar Held at Coronation Park

The National Sports Authority, Bono Region, successfully organized an Athletes and Parents Seminar on 2nd May, 2026 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

The seminar brought together 40 athletes and 23 parents, creating a platform for education, engagement, and alignment on athlete development and support systems.

Key Areas Discussed

1. Talent Management
Participants were taken through effective ways of identifying, nurturing, and managing sporting talent to achieve long-term success.

2. The Role of Parents
Emphasis was placed on parental support, discipline, and guidance in shaping the careers and attitudes of young athletes.

3. The Role of Athletes
Athletes were educated on the commitment, discipline, and sacrifices required to progress and compete at the international level.

4. Importance of Being an Athlete
Discussions highlighted the benefits of sports participation, including personal development, career opportunities, and national representation.

5. The Role of the NSA and Coaches
The roles of the National Sports Authority and coaches in providing structure, training, and opportunities for athletes were clearly outlined.

The seminar was highly interactive and impactful, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between athletes, parents, coaches, and institutions in building a strong and sustainable sports development framework in the region.

Yesterday, the 28th of April, 2026, the Oldies Stars of Ghana - Sunyani Team, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Kwame Baa Mensa, the Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority, Ghana at his office.

The team led by the National President Coach Annor Benjamin, introduced the Sunyani team and shared their visions and missions with the Regional Director.

Hon. KB Mensa, in his address commended the team for their initiative and commitment to sustaining football beyond active playing years.

He emphasized the importance of such groups in mentoring young talents and preserving the rich football culture within the Bono Region.

He further assured the team of the Authority’s readiness to support their activities within its capacity, particularly in areas that align with the broader mandate of sports development and promotion.

The visit ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing their willingness to collaborate for the growth of sports in the region.
