The Shama District Assembly has successfully held its first District Planning Coordinating Unit (DPCU) meeting for the year 2026, bringing together key stakeholders to review progress and set the tone for effective planning and development in the District.
The meeting was officially opened by the District Development Planning Officer, Mr. Anthony Aquaicoe, who informed members that all departments are required to submit their 2025 annual reports. He explained that these reports will be collated by the Development Planning Unit to facilitate the preparation of the Annual Progress Report for the District.
In his remarks, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Michael Aboagye Mensah, urged members of the committee to work diligently and collaboratively to position Shama as a district of choice. He emphasized the importance of each memberโs contribution, noting that the success of the District largely depends on the collective commitment and dedication of the committee.
The committee was also addressed by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Paul Otis Dentu, who underscored the need for all departmental plans and programmes to align with the development agenda and vision of the President of the Republic of Ghana. He encouraged members to embrace the new year with renewed vision, purpose, and determination, describing 2026 as a year that should be marked by success and tangible development outcomes.
Subsequently, heads of the various departments were invited to brief the committee on their programmes, achievements, and challenges, providing a comprehensive overview to inform planning, coordination, and decision-making processes.
The meeting reaffirmed the Assemblyโs commitment to effective planning, coordination, and sustainable development for the benefit of the people of Shama District.
