The forecourt of the Shama District Assembly came alive with patriotic spirit as the district commemorated Ghanaโs 69th Independence Day with a modest but colourful ceremony.
The celebration featured impressive parades by the Shama Senior High School Cadet Corps, the Shama Senior High School Regimented Band, and pupils from Shama Methodist KG, who displayed discipline and patriotism through well-coordinated marching performances.
Adding a historical touch to the celebration, pupils from Shama Methodist KG performed a short drama illustrating how Kwame Nkrumah declared Ghanaโs independence, reenacting the historic moment that ushered the nation into freedom.
Pupils from the Shama School for the Deaf also captivated the audience with a dignified cultural dance and drama performance, proudly showcasing Ghanaโs rich cultural heritage and the remarkable talents of the students.
The event was attended by a few Assembly Members and other key stakeholders who gathered to commemorate the nationโs independence and reflect on the countryโs journey since attaining freedom.
Delivering the keynote address was the District Chief Executive, Paul Otis Dentu. In his address, he encouraged citizens to remain united and committed to the development of the district and the nation, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in building prosperity and restoring hope for future generations.
The celebration served as a moment of reflection on Ghanaโs progress and a renewed call for citizens to actively contribute to the continued growth and development of the nation.
