MCE JOINS COMMEMORATION OF THE 2026 TREE FOR LIFE INITIATIVE AT GAANI
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Faustina A. Abulu, today joined the Forestry Commission, traditional authorities, staff, and students of Our Lady of Lourdes Girls Senior High School, to commemorate the second edition of the national Tree for Life Initiative.
Addressing participants on the theme, “Forestry and Economies,” the Hon. MCE highlighted the vital role trees play in environmental sustainability, livelihoods, and economic development. She encouraged all residents to actively support the government's target of planting 30 million trees nationwide by planting and nurturing trees within their communities.
Hon. Faustina expressed appreciation to the Forestry Commission for its continued support in promoting afforestation within the Municipality and called for strengthened measures to protect forest reserves against deforestation.
She emphasized that tree planting should not be a one-day activity but a continuous commitment towards safeguarding the environment for future generations.
“Let us all get involved—plant a tree, nurture a tree, and protect our future”
