Yesterday, I had the honour of receiving the Minister for Roads and Highways, together with his Deputy and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Highways Authority, in the North East Region for an important inspection of ongoing road projects across the region.
The inspection tour commenced at the Mishio Bridge Project, a critical infrastructure intervention that links the western part of the region to the Mamprugu Moagduri area, while also enhancing connectivity to neighbouring regions and boosting socio-economic activities.
The team also inspected the Gbintiri–Nakpanduri Road, which has been captured under Government’s flagship Big Push Initiative, as well as the Chereponi–Saboba Road project, also under the same transformative programme. I am pleased to state that all ongoing road works inspected are progressing smoothly and at satisfactory levels.
I am equally delighted to announce that, as part of the contractor’s corporate social responsibility on the Gbintiri–Nakpanduri project, the contractor will be donating six brand-new pickup vehicles to the Police Service, constructing a police station, building three six-unit classroom blocks along the Gbintiri–Nakpanduri stretch, and constructing CHPS compounds to improve healthcare delivery within the affected communities.
We highly commend the contractor for this remarkable gesture and for the impressive progress of work executed so far.
Furthermore, following the Roads Minister’s firsthand assessment of the deplorable condition of the Gbintiri–Chereponi Road, I am happy to announce that plans are far advanced for the road to be awarded for works to commence soon.
I wish to sincerely thank the Hon. Minister for Roads and Highways and his delegation for this important visit and for Government’s continued commitment to improving road infrastructure in the North East Region. We look forward to many more transformational developments across our road network.
