KWAHU SOUTH OBSERVES NATIONAL SANITATION DAY AT KWAHU PRASO NO. 2

The Kwahu South Municipal Assembly successfully observed the National Sanitation Day exercise on Friday, 15th May 2026, at Kwahu Praso No. 2, as part of the Assembly's continued commitment to the government's "Clean Up Ghana" agenda. The exercise saw active participation from the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Osei Bonsu David, alongside traditional authorities, the Assembly Member for Kwahu Praso No. 2, Hon. Alex Konadu, other Assembly members, Assembly staff, Environmental Health Officers, and residents of the community. The MCE demonstrated hands-on leadership by personally joining in the weeding and clearing of overgrown areas, an effort equally matched by Hon. Alex Konadu and the traditional authorities. Activities included the sweeping of principal streets, clearing of choked drains, weeding of overgrown areas, and the collection and disposal of refuse from public spaces. Speaking after the exercise, the MCE called on all residents to take personal responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean and to pick a day each month to continue the clean-up exercise.

MCE Updates Mpraeso Traders on 24hr Economy Ultramodern Market

On Tuesday, 12th May 2026, Hon. Effah Osei Bonsu David and management staff held a second sensitization forum with traders of the Mpraeso market, joined by Nana Ampadu Daduam II, Chief of Mpraeso, and his entourage. The MCE announced that the site for the ultramodern market would be handed over to the contractor on Thursday, 14th May 2026, following which all relevant project information would be made available on the project signage for public awareness. Traders were informed that a temporary location has been secured, with relocation expected by Tuesday, 19th May 2026, and the Assembly remains committed to addressing any issues that may arise during their stay at the temporal site. On the project duration, the contract stipulates 36 months, though the representative from FEDEMS expressed optimism that construction could be completed within 24 months. Traders were assured that data on current occupants has been taken by the Assembly and will serve as the basis for reallocation upon completion, with the new market having enough stalls and stores to accommodate even more traders. The MCE cautioned that traders refusing to pay their rents and other obligations risk not being allocated stalls, advising them to do the needful to ward off any future occurrences. He finally called on the traders to trust in the project and the vision of the current government, assuring them that the 24hr Economy Ultramodern Market would transform their lives and significantly boost economic activity in the area.

MCE Monitors Progress of Akukor Nkitinkitin Beneficiaries Across Kwahu South

Hon. Effah Osei Bonsu David, together with the Municipal Director of Agriculture, the Presiding Member, and Agricultural Extension Agents, undertook a two-day inspection tour on 6th and 7th May 2026 to assess beneficiaries of the Akukor Nkitinkitin poultry programme.

The team visited Asubone, Okra Gyei, Manso Hyidiem, Dobidi, Asikam, Asakraka, Atibie, Besease, Praso No.1, Praso No.2, Asantekrom, Aboagyekrom, Attiobikrom, Adontengkrom, Yerenkyikrom, Twenedurase, Obo, Bepong, and Mpraeso.

Most farmers have successfully reared their birds to maturity following guidance from extension agents. A few were encouraged to step up efforts. The MCE advised all beneficiaries to look for markets, sell their birds, and reinvest in purchasing more to grow their poultry enterprises, a key step towards reducing chicken imports and achieving self‑sufficiency.

Regular monitoring remains essential to the success of the programme.
