KMA PRESENTS 2027 COMPOSITE BUDGET, PRIORITISES REVENUE MOBILISATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) presented its 2027 Composite Budget proposals at a Budget Hearing.
Leading the presentation, the Mayor, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang highlighted the significant cost of waste management, which continues to put pressure on the Assembly’s finances and limits its ability to undertake more development projects using its Internally Generated Fund (IGF).
To address this challenge, KMA is intensifying revenue mobilisation through digital payment systems, Sunday revenue collection, stronger night collection and 24-hour services to support round-the-clock trading and improve convenience for ratepayers.
Revenue Performance and 2027 Target
as of September 2026, the Assembly had generated GH¢43.15 million, representing 83.62% of its annual revenue target. For 2027, KMA projects to raise GH¢54.34 million to support development and service delivery.
Projects Driving Development in Kumasi
The presentation highlighted completed projects, including a paediatric clinic, a six-unit classroom block at Santasi M/A, boreholes, footbridges and the Administration Block at Bantama Sub-Metro.
Ongoing and planned projects for 2027 include:
✅ A six-unit classroom block at Adabya
✅ A Breast Cancer Care Centre at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)
✅ Rehabilitation of the Moshie Zongo Health Centre
✅ Six-unit classroom blocks at Garrison and Adiebeba M/A
✅ A 20-seater toilet facility at Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSTS)
✅ Renovation of the Prempeh Assembly Hall
✅ A girls’ dormitory block at Kumasi Girls’ Senior High School
These projects are expected to be funded through the enhanced District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) allocation, the DACF-RFG component and the Assembly’s IGF.
Representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council commended the presentation and urged KMA to strengthen revenue collection, enforce Assembly bye-laws and collaborate with neighbouring districts to address sanitation challenges.
Traditional authority representatives also expressed support for the Assembly’s development agenda.
KMA remains committed to building a cleaner, better-serviced and more prosperous Kumasi. Achieving this vision requires effective revenue mobilisation, responsible spending and the collective support of residents, businesses and stakeholders.
