On August 2020, President Akufo-Addo, inspected and officially cut the sod for the construction of a new bridge over River Pra along the Twifo Praso-Dunkwa Road.

The project is 60% completed. The total length of the bridge is 170m with 3 spans of 45m, 70m and 45m.

The new bridge will replace the old one which was an existing Steel Truss and Concrete railway bridge which was adapted for vehicular use.

The width of the old bridge did not allow for the passage of a two-directional flow of traffic at a particular time.

The Project is expected to be completed in March 2023.

On Wednesday, 27th October 2021, I presented 40 Jeep J8 vehicles, 6 Toyota Hi-ace mini buses, and 14 Toyota Hilux pick-ups, to the Armed Forces, which will help contain the security threats posed by extremist groups operating along our northern borders, and also help the Army deal better with internal security challenges.

I also inspected work on the Ghana Military Academy Infrastructure Upgrade project site, whose sod I cut on 4th July 2019. The Cadet Mess, the Square and lecture rooms are completed. The Administration Block is some ninety-five (95%) complete, and the contractor is in the final stages of completing the external works. The two hundred and forty-six (246) capacity Cadet Hostel and Platoon Commander’s Block are some sixty-five percent (65%) complete.

Again, I inspected on-going construction of the seven-storey Army Headquarters Office Complex, which is also progressing steadily. This project is costing the taxpayer some GH¢33 million. I also cut the sod for the commencement of work on the US$24.8 million housing project for the troops. Forty (40) half compound houses will be built here at Burma Camp, ten (10) each at the Naval Base in Sekondi, the Airforce Base in Tamale, the 4th Infantry Battalion in Kumasi, and the 3rd Infantry Battalion in Sunyani. When completed, a total of three hundred and twenty (320) units would be added to the housing stock of the Armed Forces

RELOCATION TO ADJEN KOTOKU

Jubilant members of the Onion Sellers Association, who were recently moved from Agbobgloshie, have showered praises on the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for ensuring and facilitating their smooth and convenient relocation to Adjen Kotoku.

It will be recalled that the Onion Sellers not long ago fiercely resisted initial attempts by the Minister for Greater Accra, Hon. Henry Quartey, to relocate them from the Onion market in Agbobloshie, citing reasons of inconvenience and the absence of a ready market.

However, contrary to their fears, the group upon a visit to the place by the President as part of his tour of the Greater Accra region, have thanked and commended him for staying true to his word and meeting all the conditions prevalent to ensure a convenient and productive market for them.

According to their Spokesperson, Osman Mohammed Seil, the assurances of their security and ready-market are what they are witnessing today and believed that the Adjen Kotoku Onion Market has the potential of becoming the number one Onion market in West Africa.

“We were told to leave S***m and Gomorrah to Jeddah, today we have moved, seen and realized that this place is indeed Jeddah. We are earning way more than we used to get at our former place”, the Spokesperson added.

He was confident that, work on the few remaining stalls and the provision of more sanitary amenities and a mosque will be completed to augment the existing structures in the Onion Market.
