Commemorating African Vaccination and Child Health Promotion Week in New Juaben South

The MDHS, Mrs. Eunice Abuaku and her team joined the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service and its partners to mark African Vaccination Week, Child Health Promotion Week, and World Malaria Day on 29th April 2026 under the themes “For Every Generation, Vaccines Work” and “Driven to End Malaria. Now we can, Now we must” The main goal was to create awareness on key public health interventions: vaccine safety and effectiveness, nutrition and healthy diets, Vitamin A supplementation, growth monitoring, and more which protect children from preventable diseases and nutrition-related conditions while building stronger, healthier communities.

Denkyembour District Health Directorate conducted a Holistic Assessment on the 20th of February 2026 at the New Juaben South Municipal Health Directorate.

Both Directors of each Directorate were present with their members. Mrs Eunice Abuaku for New juaben Municipal Health Directorate and Mr Muntala for Denkyembuor District Health Directorate.

New Juaben South Municipal Directorate held a Training for Staffs on the implementation of the automated new GHS Staff performance management system

The District Director Mrs Eunice Abuaku, Mrs Akua Doruwaa(Head of Health Information) and Mr Dickson Yaw Darko(Human Resource) on Friday 13th February completed four days training on the new system.

Staffs were urged to complete the registration process as soon as possible in order to ensure the submission of details before deadline.

Rabies Awareness Campaign.

On Monday 24th November 2025, New Juaben South Municipal Health Directorate under the leadership of acting Director Mr Joseph Abankwa held a meeting with the media regarding Rabies Outbreak.

Mr Joseph Abankwa held a meeting with the media regarding rabies educational campaign in primary schools following the death of a school boy from rabies in the municipality few months back in 2025.

The Regional Deputy Director of Public Health (DDPH) for Eastern Region , Dr Moses Barima Dzimatey too gave a detailed education on dog bites and rabies. He answered all questions and also educated the media and all present on how to prevent dog bite and eliminate rabies.

Among the Media houses present were GTV, UTV, Daily Graphic, Joy News among others.
