GAFTAG Hands Over Dog Kennel Facility and Van to GAF

The German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG) has handed over a Dog Kennel Facility and a Toyota Haice van to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Tuesday 29 April 2025 at the Air Force Base, Tamale.

Airforce Cadets Pay Visit to 69 Airborne Force Tamale

The Flight Cadets of Regular Career Course 63 (RCC 63) from the Ghana Military Academy on Friday 11 October 2024 paid a visit to the 69 Airborne Force in Tamale as part of a 7-week Exercise at the Air Force Training Command, Tamale.

The visit was aimed at providing the cadets with knowledge on Operational layout and administrative activities of the Unit.
On arrival, the Training Officer of the 69 Airborne Force, Maj HB Nartey gave the cadets detailed central briefing on the Organisational Structure, the Role and Responsibilities of the 69 Airborne Force.

COAS CUTS SOD FOR CONSTRUCTION OF MULTIPURPOSE MESS AT ARMY PEACE OPERATIONS TRAINING SCHOOL

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, has cut sod for the construction of a 1,000-seat Multipurpose Mess at the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) in Bundase, pledging a seed money of one hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵100,000) to aid in its completion.

The sod cutting was held during the visit of the COAS to personnel of UNIFIL GHANBATT 91, on completion of their pre-deployment concentration and training at the Battle Training Camp, Bundase on Thursday, 8 August 2024.
Also, as part of the visit, the COAS commissioned a newly renovated ablution unit, a project executed by GHANBATT 91, and inspected a 100-bed accommodation facility, also renovated by the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) to support trainees at the camp.

The COAS also witnessed some simulation exercises during which troops demonstrated their preparedness to deal with any situation likely to be encountered when deployed in the mission area.
At a durbar with troops, Maj Gen Onwona shared his vision for the Ghana Army and emphasised ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency. He also stressed the need for enhanced collaboration with other security services as well as the media.

Maj Gen Onwona applauded troops for their display of commitment and motivation and charged them to always maintain a high level of readiness and professionalism.
The COAS was accompanied by some Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters.

COAS VISITS 48 ENGINEER REGIMENT

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Bismarck Kwasi Onwona has paid a working visit to 48 Engineer Regiment at Wajir barracks in Teshie on Friday 08 march 2024.
The visit was aimed at providing the platform for the COAS to formally introduce himself to personnel of the unit as the new Army chief and also familiarize himself with the tasks and obligations of the Combat Engineer Regiment in support of the larger Army organisation.
He was received at the home of the Sappers by the Commanding Officer, Lt Col Alex Twumasi, where he also inspected a Guard of Honour mounted for him. He was given an extensive brief of the roles and deployments of the Regiment, as well as the challenges faced by the unit in the conduct of its tasks.
Maj Gen BK Onwona extolled personnel of the unit for the excellent successes they have chalked in support of the Ghana Army and national development, even in the face of limited logistics and resources and pledged his unwavering support to the unit for the future.
Maj Gen BK Onwona was conducted round some key installations in the Regiment after which he held a durbar with all ranks of the unit. He charged troops to desist from acts that bring the hard-earned image of the army into disrepute, including all forms of financial scams and unauthorized operations.
He also cautioned troops against indiscriminate betting games that promise quick monetary returns and entreated them to rather remain meticulous with their financial resources and plan well for their futures.
The COAS was accompanied on the visit by a high-powered delegation of staff officers from the Army Headquarters including the Deputy Chief Staff Officer (DCSO) Admin, Brig Gen EA Baidoo, Acting DCSO (P&P), Col FK Gyamera, Chief G3, Col IB Mohammed and Chief Projects and services, Col AB Tekyi.

COAS PAYS WORKING VISIT TO HEADQUARTERS SOUTHERN COMMAND
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Bismarck Kwasi Onwona on Friday 08 March 2024, paid a day’s working visit to the Headquarters Southern Command, Kpeshie Ridge, Teshie.
The visit forms part of the COAS’ familiarization tour of Army units and formations to introduce himself to personnel as the new army chief and also obtain first-hand information of deployments, tasks and activities of the various units. It was also to ascertain developments and challenges in the units at the tactical level to inform his operational decisions.
Maj Gen BK Onwona was met on arrival at the Command Headquarters by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brig Gen Samuel Yeboah Asare, where he inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by personnel of the unit. He was then ushered into the Command Operations room for a thorough brief on the Administrative, Operational and Logistics state of the command by the Command Operations Officer, Col Emmanuel Appiah.
He was taken on a brief tour of the camp after which he held an interactive durbar with troops of the Command Headquarters. During the durbar, he outlined his vision for the Army; which is ‘to maintain a cohesive, motivated and well-rounded army capable of undertaking its mission of national defence as part of the Ghana Armed Forces’.
Gen Onwona commended and congratulated troops under Command for the good job done at maintaining peace and security in Southern Command Area of Operational Responsibility, and asked for same support and loyalty accorded his predecessor to be extended to him to help achieve his vision for the Ghana Army.
The COAS was accompanied on the visit by a high-powered delegation of staff officers from the Army Headquarters including the Deputy Chief Staff Officer (DCSO) Admin, Brig Gen EA Baidoo, Acting DCSO (P&P), Col FK Gyamera, Chief G3, Col IB Mohammed and Chief Projects and services, Col AB Tekyi.
