GNFS OTI,DAMBAI CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS DAY.
The oti regional headquaters of the Ghana national fire service celebrate International Firefighters Day on the theme, An attack on firefighters is an attack on public safety,end assaults and protect the firefighter. Delivering the keynote address by the Regional fire officer DO I Francis Agbavitor calls on the general public and other relevant stakeholders to come to terms that fire safety is a sacred shared responsibility. Therefore, the need for all stakeholders to ensure that any assistant that is needed by the service to ensure public safety and by extension preventing and managing undesired fires in accordance with our mandate is achieved. He said the growing concern of the service is the persistent and constant attacks on firefighters engaging in their lawful duty, which is becoming a hindrance to the general public safety of the country. He called for all attacks on firefighters to be ceased , and firefighters should be protected during their engagements in their lawful duties.
The MCE of Krachi East, Hon. Safo Nketiah who doubles as the special guest of Honour and the chairperson of the day, called on fire service in the Krachi East to always call on his office for any assistance needed for implementation of fire safety standards within the municipality, he has requested the service to annually provide action plan that will be incorporated into the Krachi East annual Assemblys action plans. An open forum was held,a minutes silence was held in memory of the lost gallant heroes, and coins were laid in the name of the president and the people of Ghana, the regional fire officer laid his in the name of the CFO, etc.
A citation and award was presented to ADO I Stephen Agortor,the former staff officer and municipal fire commander of the krachi East municipality, for his hard work and dedication since he came to the region in 2019. He has gone on transfer to Kasoa fire station early this year.
