Trust in future
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - IWD
TODAY, 8th March 2021 is another day to celebrate, which celebration is to the cause of women everywhere in the world.
Women have always been the pivots of our worlds - you and I - and that will not change for as long as ever.
While celebrating the achievements of prominent women in our nation and elsewhere in the world, let us spare a moment to think about those in our immediate surroundings - the girls and young women who will shape tomorrow, and the many years after.
How well are we bringing them up, and teaching them to take the future by surprise? Are we mentoring them enough? Do we strive to provide for them, and set their feet on less challenging roads to the future, to the top? They are our responsibility. While we celebrate the few others who have made it, let us remember that we cannot fail the many ones around us, each of us in our own little ways.
"Women in leadership: achieving an equal future in a covid-19 world" is the global theme for this year's celebration. I believe that with a new sense of purpose, we can do more to encourage our women - the young and the experienced - to take up leadership, especially in political circles, despite the challenges it comes with.
My warmest regards to everyone who has womanhood and women's rights at heart. It is a worthwhile cause. We can do more, for now and the future.
