On Sunday, 31st May, 2026, the historic city of Cape Coast came alive as the highly anticipated Cape Coast Business Summit was successfully held at the plush Pempamsie Hotel, bringing together distinguished personalities and stakeholders committed to the economic growth and development of the metropolis.

The summit, organized by Betty King Ministries International in collaboration with the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, served as a platform for meaningful discussions on business growth, entrepreneurship, and investment opportunities within Cape Coast and beyond.

The event was chaired by Oguaamanhen, Osaberima Dr. Kwesi Atta II, and graced by the presence of the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, Former MP for Cape Coast North, Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi, Nananom, business moguls,members of academia, the clergy, Assembly Members, and media representatives.

Delivering an inspiring address, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, made a thought-provoking presentation that resonated strongly with the theme of the summit, emphasizing the need for collaboration, innovation, and a renewed commitment towards positioning Cape Coast as a thriving hub for business and investment.

On Wednesday, 20th May, 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with some staff of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, conducted an inspection of the site earmarked for the construction of the proposed 24-Hour Market at Ekon Junction.

The inspection was carried out in the company of the Consultant for the project to assess the progress of preparatory activities currently underway at the site. Initial works, including the clearing of the land, have commenced ahead of the main construction works which are expected to begin in earnest soon.

The proposed 24-Hour Market forms part of efforts to boost local commerce, create employment opportunities, and enhance economic activities within the Cape Coast Metropolis.

Yesterday, 20th May, 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with some senior officials of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, paid a working visit to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Police Command at Bakaano.

The team was received by Chief Inspector Vincent Ayeebono, Station Officer of the Metro Police Station, Cape Coast, who took the delegation on a tour of the facility. The inspection revealed the deplorable state of the station, a structure constructed during the colonial era, which now urgently requires redevelopment and modernization.

The visit formed part of the Assembly’s commitment to assessing critical public infrastructure and collaborating with key institutions to improve service delivery and security within the metropolis.

The Assembly assured the Police Command of its readiness to work closely with the Ministry of the Interior and other relevant stakeholders to address the situation and help restore the facility to a more suitable and functional state.

On Monday, 18th May, 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with some officials of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, paid a working visit to the 3rd Ridge–Holy Cross School area near Nkanfoa to assess at firsthand the challenges residents face whenever it rains.

The visit formed part of the Mayor’s commitment to engaging communities directly and understanding critical issues affecting residents. During the inspection, the Mayor and his team observed the poor state of mobility within the area, especially during rainfall, which often makes movement difficult for both motorists and pedestrians.

The team also interacted with some residents to gather concerns and suggestions on how best the Assembly can intervene to improve drainage systems, road accessibility, and overall mobility in the area.

Later, the Assembly team proceeded to inspect the site earmarked for the construction of the proposed 24-hour market, where land clearing and other preparatory works are currently ongoing. The visit was to assess the progress made so far and ensure that preliminary activities are on course ahead of the commencement of the main construction works.

It was concluded that the Mayor will meet with the entire residents of the area on Sunday, 31st May, 2026, to further deliberate on the challenges and discuss practical ways through which the Assembly can intervene to address the situation.

Hon. George Justice Arthur reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to addressing infrastructure challenges within the metropolis and working towards practical solutions that will enhance the safety and comfort of residents, particularly during the rainy season, while also prioritizing developmental projects aimed at boosting local economic activities.

Community engagement remains a vital pillar of effective local governance. In line with this commitment, on Thursday, 14th May 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with senior officials of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, embarked on a community engagement exercise at the Nkanfoa/3rd Ridge Electoral Area held at the Nkanfoa Durbar Grounds.

The purpose of the engagement was to interact directly with residents and gain firsthand insight into the pressing challenges confronting the community, while exploring practical ways the Assembly can collaborate with stakeholders to address them.

The meeting was well attended by Nananom, opinion leaders, community members, and the Assemblyman for the Electoral Area, Hon. Benjamin Benya, all of whom contributed meaningfully to discussions aimed at promoting development within the area.

The Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, joined the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency and Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, to inspect the site earmarked for the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market at Ekon Junction in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The visit formed part of efforts to assess ongoing preparatory works, including the clearing of the land ahead of the contractor’s arrival on site to commence construction.

During the inspection, Hon. Ricketts-Hagan engaged the media and emphasized the significance of the project to the development of Cape Coast, calling on all residents to lend their support towards the successful ex*****on of the market.

The 24-Hour Economy Market is expected to create new economic opportunities, boost local trade, and contribute significantly to the growth and transformation of the Cape Coast Metropolis.

Yesterday, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, joined the Special Guest of Honour, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency, Deputy Majority Leader, and Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority, for the official launch of the 62nd Oguaa Fetu Afahye at the Ato Austin Memorial Garden.

The event was graced by the presence of Madam Charlotte Osei, Esq., who serves as Chairperson for the upcoming 62nd Oguaa Fetu Afahye, as well as Oguaamanhen, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, who also serves as a Member of the Council of State.

The colourful ceremony brought together distinguished personalities, including members of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Planning Committee, invited guests, traditional leaders, media personalities, and other key stakeholders.

In a remarkable show of commitment towards the success of this year’s celebration, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan made a generous donation of GH¢200,000 in support of the festival.

The launch officially set the tone for preparations towards the 62nd Oguaa Fetu Afahye, reaffirming its significance as a celebration of unity, heritage, and the rich cultural identity of the people of Cape Coast.

The Mayor reiterated his support for the festival and commended all stakeholders for their dedication to preserving and promoting the rich traditions of Oguaa.
